triggered by 2012 end of the world

Is any one here triggered by the whole 2012 end of the world thing ?
I find the whole thing very triggering and have anxiety attacks because of it.
I avoid any posts about it in forums and if its mentioned in a post randomly i also get triggered.
My husband had reassured me that it not going to happen .
But anything like the end of the world triggers me so much i cant watch films that have that as a topic or read anything about it .

i know it sounds so stupid , but there are sometimes were i cant get it out my mind and i get really upset about it .
Is there anything i can do to stop me feeling like this ?

Yep I get panic attacks over it, and my husband like yours reassures me it won't happen but I am so anxious about it. I have a fear of death.

Hey there

I totally understand how you feel.

I have very bad delusions about the end of the world anyway, so 2012 really has not helped me.

I dont really know what to suggest other than keep fighting and I am here if you ever need to talk.

I can really relate, but you gotta remember that no one can predict at a certain time of the world ending.
I think it'll be a LONG time before this world ends, certainly not in our life time anyway.
(I say that & yet I worry the end will be in 2012 too but yes, try to remember that no one can predict it)

Think of this, even if it were to end then (which I highly doubt), what can you do about it anyway? If it concerns you then use the time in between to the best of your ability.

Nearly every year there is some sort of scare that it'll be the year. Nobody can predict if or when the world is going to end; try and rationalise it a bit!

There are, it has been said, two types of people in the world. There are those who, when presented with a glass that is exactly half full, say: 'This glass is half full'. And then there are those who say: 'This glass is half empty'.
The world belongs, however, to those who can look at the glass and say: 'What's up with this glass? Excuse me? Excuse me? This is my glass? I don't think so. My glass was full! And it was a bigger glass!

If it was so stupid, then there would be no 2012-panic ;)

Would it help you to read more about it and find out where the hype is coming from? I've read various sources that explain more about it, and that puts things in perspective - the Mayans didn't predict the end of the world here.

For me, I tend to just remember Terry Pratchett and his wizards, when they consider an experiment that could very well mean the end of the world. I don't have the exact wording in mind, but something along the lines of:
"So, if this goes wrong... the world explodes?"
"No. Not exactly. It would simply cease to exist, in a matter of miliseconds."
"In that case, there would be no one to notice it, anyway, right?"

People have predicted the end of the world so many times. Remeber June 6th 2006? (6/6/6) we are all still here.

Try not to worry, in 2013 there'll be someone else telling us we'll all die!

Isn’t it funny how day by day nothing changes but when you look back, everything is different…

I try and rationalize it and tell myself that it wont happen , i think about it more and i get really anxious about it .

I have never really looked into it because i am worried it will trigger me more.
but i might look into it.

I have a fear of death as well so I understand sort of where you are coming from.

As people have said, loads of different people have tried to predict when the end of the world is going to happen, and no-one has ever been right. Remember Y2K? 6/6/6?

If it is going happen/if it does happen, which i highly doubt it is, there isn't anything you can do to stop it, so I would try not to think about it and just focus on enjoying everything you do and make the most of everything, and I know if can be hard, but just try not to worry about it.

some people believe it will mark a new era of enlightenment for the human race, some kind of old end and new beginning, etc etc

i know what you mean though, it preoccupies my thoughts sometimes.
