I haven't logged on in about 7 years or so.

I went back and read my posts.

I was in an extremely abusive relationship where I feared for my life and had generally accepted that he was going to kill me one day.

I would post wondering if it really was abuse or if I was being dramatic.

It was abuse. It's obvious now. I don't know how I ever questioned it.

I left him. He was charged with attempted murder.

Its been several years since. Im not "healed" or "fixed" but the nightmares have faded and the panic attacks are fewer.

I wanted to thank this wonderful community for believing in me and listening when I needed it.

Escape is possible.

I wasn't around then so won't take credit for the rest of the community but I want to say I am so glad to hear you've got out of that situation. My friend has recently left an abusive relationship and from hearing what she's said and from my own experiences with her husband, I know how obvious it all seems afterwards. Escape is possible, you are so right.

That's huge that you were able to get out, and hope you are proud of yourself and taking care of yourself as best you can now. There are fewer of us around these days, but we are still here to listen if you ever need.

Can I ask what your red flags or warning signs were now that you are out and looking back?
