I've just recently decided to stop SIing and I want to make a list of things prettier than scars. Most of the reason I did it was because I loved the way it looked, so I want to be able to refer to something when all I can think about is how pretty the scars would look. So I'm looking for as many beautiful things as you guys can think of. Thanks!

Close your eyes. Don't you cry. Love's around you. In time, you'll fly. Don't you worry about the dark. I will light up the night with the love in my heart. I will burn like the sun that will keep you safe and warm. Like the smell of a rose on a summer's day, I will be there to take all your fears away. With the touch of my hand, I will turn your life to GOLD!
I think anyone who wears a smile is beautiful, hair bows, nail polish, dimples, the smell of autumn, old keys, dangle earrings, feathers, the look someone gives you when you give them an unexpected compliment.
This is a really good idea! I have more or less the same problem as you, as the looks of my injuries/scars tempt me to do it more. So I think this list might be a really helpful incentive to reduce my SI'ing as well.
Some things to add to the list:
Cute dresses, tank tops, and dress shirts; newly dyed hair; puppies; summer sunsets; people aging gracefully and naturally; confident smiles.
Hope this helps some!

"Well, if it's not real you can't hold it in your hands
You can't feel it with your heart
And I won't believe it.
But if it's true
You can see it with your eyes
Oh, even in the dark
And that's where I want to be, yeah" - Paramore
Why are there not more responses to this thread? I feel triggered tonight and I also struggle with liking the way it looks which makes me want to do it more, and remembered this thread and I'm glad i found it.
So, here goes:
Butterflies
Rain on hot a sunny day
A tan
Jewellery
Smiles that reach the eyes
Old books that are well-loved
Old teddy bears
Flowers
The sun
The snow
Babies
Friendly happy people
Best friends
Life.
I like this idea because I too struggle with seeing my scars and wanting to add to them. I don't have a whole list but I would definitely say butterflies, they are my most favorite thing. They start out as what some people consider an ugly caterpillar, then, they transform into a beautiful butterfly with bright wings that can take them anywhere they want to go. I am trying to keep that thought in my head as I'm struggling with bad urges.
Great idea! Here's my list:
Double rainbows
Trees in the wind
Lightning storms
Bright nail polish
'Happy' tears
The sunset
Clear blue skies
A peacock's tail opened up
A decorated Christmas tree
Beautifully iced/decorated cakes/cupcakes
Flower arrangements
Footprints in the sand on the beach
I feel like I could go on forever. I love the idea so much. :)
If you spoke to other people the way you speak to yourself, how many friends would you have?
I love Christmas trees
snow
baubles
fairy lights (I'm feeling Christmassy)
pencilcases
new stationary
sharpened pencils
Oxford collars
typewriters (the really old ones)
pearls
lambs
unprotected WiFi! :D
The sky. It is infinite and full of possibilities. Go outside and look up. Even on a dreary day the beauty is breathtaking. Best wishes as you embrace your si free life.

...My smile's just the armour I built when I was alone...
There was some part of me that hurt so badly, that I wouldn't ever be able to forget it.
It faded but the memories could bring it back any second, keeping me in the moment.
It would never fully heal. I could never really be free. I could never really be fixed. Now I just have to work out how to live whilst being broken.
I feel like I'm dying.
