another world

my getaway
no more wanting
no more strife

can you not see
Her tears of outrage
within every pound of trash
covering Her
the result of our arrogance
muffling Her anguish
no longer
tolerating our silence
our disconnection
so I will listen close
and so I will see Her
just as, always,
She has seen me

the world behind
finding the meaning
of what was supposed to be
now living blindly
in the safety net
of the library

anxious at first
to breathe in white pages
of worlds past created
for runners
restless souls
waiting to be reopened
my excitement sways
filling with fear
through the hush
from beyond the shadows
a scarecrow behind an old oak desk
watching...
waiting...
learning...
knowing...

I find it hard to sleep
an empty soul wanders
in and out of sanity
as fog encompasses
muting each step
I approach
the waves' sorrows
cresting gently
about the crisp, salty air
all at once
together in a flash
we will stand
and we sing

right to my heart's centre
tsunami my soul
you play the hero
I'll be your villain
your scapegoat of half truths
facts twisted by a silver tongue
wrapped in thorns of comfort
reputation of false dignity
false protection
not to be altered
not by anyone
not even by your victim
