Hi, I was just wondering. Can my doctor tell my mum if i'm self harming even though I'm 24?

No. (in assuming you're in the UK but it should be the same across Europe and USA).

yes uk. ok thought i'd check. I had this thought in the back of my mind that if ever needed one looking at he'd tell my mum

I don't think they could even if they wanted to - it breaks the law and in any case, they won't Have contact info for her, so wwouldnt be viable.

I'm not sure but she'd still be classed as my next of kin. but thanks for reassuring me :)

Unless she is your carer or something, then no, they wouldn't tell your mum, and even then I don't think they could necessarily do it without your consent. The only time when a next of kin gets information is if you are sectioned or discharged from a section and then they get a letter in the post.

Hi I thought I'd add to this in the fact of, maybe discussing with your GP the concern of confidentiality, & that there are certain circumstances where you'd rather your mum not be informed unless absolutely necessary, and suggest if they do wish to notify anyone of something less minor, they contact another contact of your choice, I did this with my previous GP who was my family doctor, and explained he'd know what circumstance I was referring to if it happens to arise in future & sure enough he did
