Physical discomfort

Okay, not really a 'success'-story in the sense that I'm clean for a very long time now, but I've lately noticed something. Whenever I spend too long thinking or talking about self harm or talking to people about it, I notice I start clutching my wrists or wrap my arms around my chest. Does anybody else have experience with this? It feels rather... comforting, to be honest. Almost like self-defense.

Love to you all,

T.

Hi there, I'm not really sure what you mean and don't have any experience with it, but I guess wrapping your arms around yourself could be like a kind of self defense or form of self soothing. If it's helpful and you're able to use it as an alternative to hurting yourself that's great. What do you mean by your title though? (physical discomfort). Sorry if I'm being a bit dense just didn't want to leave this unanswered. Also well done on being clean.
