I just read about this.
there's a large death toll sadly, the largest ever seen in America. and people are calling it a "terrorist attack" because of the fact the shooter was Afghani. it was not a terrorist attack, it was a hate crime.
and gay men and women are still being turned away from donating blood to help the victims in most places.

Orlando is 5 hours away from me and honestly Florida is one of the least "tolerable" states.

I wanna move to the the moon basically.

there was also an attempted bombing in LA, Cal but the guy was caught before anything bad happened.

It's so sad. I feel gutted for the victims and their families. My mum lives just up the road in Kissimmee but she still feels safer there than here in the UK.
Thoughts go out to everyone effected. Days like these make me so ashamed to be human.

And I'm glad nothing bad happened with the attempted bombing.

IS it possible to have a hate crime-terrorist attack. Because I'd say if covered both, and not because he as Afghani.

the crime had nothing to do with religion. [which would be a terrorist attack if it's religious based] what set him off were two men kissing.
is it possible? yes I guess that it is, but this isn't the case.

proper education is so needed in areas like this. quite a few areas in florida and surrounding states still have active KKK groups and on a federal level it might look like the LGBT movement is making some ground but on the state level it's not even started.

It really annoys me when people assosicate crimes/terrorism with religion just because that person happened to be religious, but in this case he wasn't called a terrorist because he happened to be an American muslim (not Afghani) but because he pledged allegiance to ISIS shortly before killing 50 people. Even his own family have said it has nothing to do with religion (or nationality, because he's American). It simply has to do with an very twisted group of people.

(Also, the threat level from ISIS/specific international groups is sufficiently low that the UK only splits the threat levels into "International" and "Northern-Ireland related")

I only just recently learned about the ISIS bit.
I was under the impression it wasn't related to a terrorist og.
and the fact ISIS is related to it doesn't make it better

Oh its a terrorist strike. FBI knew about the guy 2-3 years ago. Alas the FBI has been told to lay off a certain demographic. Almost every attack turns out to be a "known wolf" as they are sarcastically saying now (a play on the "lone wolf"). The guy phoned 911 during attack to tell them he was devoted to ISIS, IS, ISIL, Daesh whatever they are called this month.
