hi all, i have been suffering from intrusive thoughts for the past 2 months. they are taking over my life and making me miserable. does anyone know of any ways to control intrusive thoughts?
This is very distressing. I get anxious thoughts and scary scenarios of what bad might happen. What I find helps is talking about it to someone, just to let it out. Do you have someone to talk to? It might be an idea to ask for help.
Its not really possible to "control" intrusive thoughts. Your best bet is seeing a therapist about it so you have methods to make their impact less. I wish you luck
I agree that talking through things can be helpful. Also a quick thing to do if the thoughts start getting too much is just to try saying 'stop' and moving your attention to something else.
I put it down on paper and then the ghost does not ache so much.
Don't try to calm the storm, calm yourself, the storm will pass.
