Mildly Triggering (ED) - Help to weigh myself less?

My therapist has given me a task to try to decrease the amount I weigh myself from daily to every other day..
I'm just looking for pointers on how other people may have done this??

I know logically weighing myself that often isn't good, and that weight fluctuates, but in my head it doesn't "click" so to speak...

It's just a scary idea not to wake up and jump on the scales like i have done for months.. I just feel i need to know my weight every day if that makes sense??

I'd be SO grateful for any ones help??

Thankyouu xxxxx

This is a really good idea, I'm glad you're going to try it. I have never had to do this, so my advice may be rubbish! Do you weigh yourself more than once a day? If so, could you pick a time (say, when you get up) and weight yourself then and then try to steer clear of the scales for the rest of the day? Manage to do that for a week or so and then do the same thing again, but only once every other day. It's alright for you not to manage it, it can take time to break routines.

I know the feeling not wanting to get up!

It can be really hard to break a routine like that, especially if you've been doing it for a long time. I'm sorry I don't have any practical advice.

I had to get rid of the scales altogether because if they were there, I would use them.

First time I got rid of them, bought some more a few days later. Two months later got rid of them again, bought some more a few weeks after that... and then got rid of them again. And I've actually stayed scale free for about 4 months now and don't plan on spending any more money on them when I will, eventually, chuck them out again ;)

Allow yourself a certain amount of weighing until it's reduced and then distract yourself like crazy. Or try and let someone else be in control of them?

I think this is really positive and I wish you good luck :)
I'm so bad with weighing I do it like 6+ times a day.

Could you ask one of your friends/family to look after your scales for a while and perhaps ask to get weighed at the doctors like once a week?

Or ask someone to look after them but work out a routine with them which gradually goes down and down but you have to give them back the scales till the next time you are allowed to weigh.

Maybe you could put your scale away and only take it out every other day. That way it won't be staring at you tempting you everyday? I know that's going to be hard, I weight myself every time I go in the bathroom. But this could be really good for you, good luck honey!

i put post-it notes all over mine, with positive quotes and things like, "my weight will not increase or decrease in a day/hour/20mins ect" "body weight fluctuates due to water retention". Seeing the notes and what was written on them, when i went to the scales made me think twice. Or at least question my ed thoughts. xxxxxx

ive been asked to do this too as i used to weigh myself everyday, i then cut it down to 3 times a week, then twice a week and now once a week (although i do find i desperatly want to weigh more some days), but anyway maybe you could just gradually reduce how many times you weigh yourself in a week or get someone to hide the scales from you
