Where I Live

I live in an abandoned land…

I live where salty rivers that once flowed effortlessly have dried to a desert, a withering wasteland

I live where the passionate beating stones have frozen over, hard and cold

I live where the bright sunlight has fallen to a nocturnal pitch dark, without stars

I live where the vibrant influence of possibility has faded to a leaden uninspiring concrete

I live, convinced of the greater good
I live, but maybe it is time I did not.
