god the whole thing is ridiculous. The people who are members of that site are shallow, if youre going to join a site like that you deserve to be kicked off when you gain weight.Ugh.

There are times to stay put, and what you want will come to you.
But there are times to go out into the world and find such a thing for yourself.
I aint no abacus but you can count on me.

Having a debate about such a site on a forum where pretty much everyone suffers problems with low-self esteem is well.. you see the result. I'm not saying only people with self-esteem problems would find the site "shallow and pathetic" but you can see where all the negativity is coming from.
Personally, I'm indifferent towards the whole thing. If you wanna pigeon hole them into one of those sites then we should discuss sites like facebook and myspace too, and the underlying elitist behaviour behind it. You get friend requests, you choose whether you want them on your special special page ( which now gives you the option to put them in a LIMITED PROFILE if you don't deem them worthy to view full information about you) you choose your top friends, who you tag in your photos, which photos of yourself to put in, tag, untag and so on. There's selectivity and bias everywhere, they've just taken it much further.

I pity them, in all honesty. They seem like the kind of people that I'd very much dislike.

I think the fact that it's a dating website for beautiful people says a lot about the members.
Surely if you're stunningly attractive you have offers all the time?
I'd go as far as to suggest that they're probably lacking in other areas. :/

Good looking people are often more neurotic than the others. Put a lot of them on one site and it's probably worse than here lol.

^^ Agreed.

And Morrigan, I like your point.

I just think it is a stupid idea... which on the whole, will probably lead to more paranoia and lower self-esteem IMO.

It was a smart decision though, it was a business decision and they have got their punters.

The website idea is not a smart decision, they got punters, but to me, my opinion is it was not a smart idea to make that type of website.

For the creators, i dont know maybe they made it as a bit of fun, or where quite serious, but at the end of they day for them its about money thats all.

But reading the site homepage its disgusting really, even at the botten it says "too ugly to sign up - browse the site now" and also the site says it doesnt judge people on thier beauty, the members do. tbh it seems like an eleit group rahter than a dating site.

I am curious what happens if people defraud like posting picks that aren't recent or "let themselves go" but don't update the site- do you get your money back or something?

is this just a dating website?
honestly, i think it has a point.. no one wants to date an ugly person.
There are a lot of dating websites that are aimed at specific people.. they wouldnt let people that werent in uniform join uniformdating.com.

there are fetish dating sites, and dating sites for people that like larger ladies, and sites for people that like every type of other person .. i dont think this is much different.
