Anyone with depression/anxiety had Prozac actually work for them? It just seems to make me numb and put on weight... Then when I have a mood swing its more violent and sudden.

I haven't gone to redo my perscription since febuary cause I just gave up. Prozac is the 4th one they've had me on.

No.

I was on Prozac for only six days in January of this year.

I had to stop taking that because that made my leg shake uncontrollably, I was more on edge, and I was more suicidal.

I've been on three different anti-depressants and none of them have helped, but I think I might be bipolar, not depressed.

I was put on Prozac the end of last year, it was awful for me. It made me more depressed, the suicidal thoughts were unbearable and made me really, really anxious. Ive never had panic attacks in my life, then when i was put on Prozac i suddenly started having them and they havent stopped even though im not on it anymore

Im sure it works for some people, but Prozac...*shudders at the very thought of it*

Prozac did nothing for me. The only SSRI that's helped me is Seroxat

Prozac is Fluoxetine. Lustral is Sertraline.

i was on it for a while when i was in hospital...it made me worse so the doctors and nurses observed. i was taken off it pretty quickly after stating i was more suicidal than before. it seems to be a common side effect of prozac.

i've been on a looong list of meds and the only one i partially responded to was zoloft (sertraline) ive noticed that alot of people have positive experiences with this one.

Prozac does work for people because of the mass publicity around it. However it had some positive effects and some negative effects so overall I had an average experience on it.

If its your 4th Anti depressant it might be worth looking at alternatives to medication. What an Anti Depressant like prozac does is increase the level of serotonin binding to receptors. If this isnt the cause of your depression it isnt going to lift it and that is why a combination of drugs and therapy can be so effective. I know for me not all drugs worked but also not all therapy worked.

It is however really important to stay on it and not stop taking it without your drs. agreement because it takes time to work and prior to it starting to work it can make depression worse and increase moodswings etc. I know I wasnt aware of this made several bad judgement calls and nearly wrecked everything.

Hi there... prozac did nothing for me so after 6 weeks and a hospital admission (increasingly suicidal) I was shifted to mirtazapine.... twelve weeks after that they've topped me up with lithium... I don't know what right is anymore so don't know whether the drugs are working. When you're right - do you know???
