The group therapy thread will fail, how can several people be supported properly in the one thread?

I like the group therapy thread idea, personally. I think it would be good and helpful to discuss ways to deal with the stressful parts of my life that make my ED worse... But hey. I guess if you think it will fail, perhaps it's pointless trying.

Sorry if I was out of order in making this thread... but I liked a couple of the ideas and thought perhaps they could be discussed. Even if they don't help you, shadow-light mentioned in the other thread that a couple of them might help her so I just thought I'd put them out there.

Maybe sometimes I can be oversensitive about things, it's probably something to do with my ED, but when you're all ranting about how the changes won't work and won't help YOU personally, I feel like I'm wasting my time, when really I just want what's best for this community as a whole.

Considering the options are there to make people with less common EDs more comfortable, and it was THEM who were saying those ideas won't work.. I don't see how that's a problem.

I don't think that trying to make the ED board a more welcoming place in general is a bad thing. And it's not every single person on ryl with a less common ED that's saying the ideas won't work, there are only really a few of you who have been saying anything.

I don't quite know what you mean by something being a problem.

There's more than few. If there was only a few do you think such a big fuss would have happened?
More rules in the ED board would pretty much mean you'd be unable to post anyhitng, which isn't productive for anyone, I think. And as I said, (and several others have said too) the only thing that's really going to work for the people asking for support is a subforum, but that's not possible due to Harley's absence.

This pointless thread is just going to turn into the other thread, but smaller. Every point has been raised and dragged about the place.

well people were gwtting annoyed on the other thread by people proposing ideas other than a sub-forum as they said it won't work... so surely moving that aspect of the conversation was a good thing?

Taht's fine. But don't make these changes abut the other thread. It should be a complete and new topic with nothing to do with the reasons for the other thread. Again, it's been ignored the overwhelming reason why rule changes aren't going to make much if any difference at all!

I liked the idea of new trigger lables, the stickies (which i hear are being sorted) and the recipie thread. The support thread is also a good idea.. i guess it would kinda be like the challenge thread?

It seems to me that there have been the same few people arguing very vocally, but regardless - if you don't care about these rules, stop posting on this thread.
I just wanted to hear other people's opinions without another argument taking place, but it looks like you're not going to make that possible.

Jeez. People are being proactive and trying to do things that we can do in the meantime to help those people who claim they currently don't feel comfortable with posting, trying to help, to do something in the meantime - we haven't got Harley around, god knows when he'll be back, and instead of sitting around and moping, somebody is actually trying to do something to help - and is just being hit with criticism on every front.

And no, don't give me the 'it'll never change, like, ever' bullshit, because you don't know that unless you're psychic, which I really doubt.

And - just because it may not be exactly, to the detail, what you want, but if it helps some people out there, then where's the problem? Jesus Christ.

It's the same people arguing back, too! Oh my god, the hypocrisy is ****ing deafening.
And Jo I know Harley isn't here, but I don't see how putting MORE rules onto that board is going to help anyone, there is such a thing as too many rules.

If you change a few of them slightly, adapt them, it isn't as if you are bringing new ones in..... If that makes sense?

this is now meant to be separate from the other thread... yes sub-forum, we get it... but that thread highlighted that others (not only people with COE/BED ) feel out of place there and so this is for EVERYONE

Banning 'fat' from titles,, you can explain all you like IN the thread, but having 'fat' in titles, is a little like putting weight in titles (before the no numbers rule) but that was unnacceptable, even if it wasnt in the rules.

And one new rule of allowing healthy weight loss tips for anyone who has said specifically that they want them because they are overweight.

Some of it is about common sense and accuracy, reading the specific thread and being careful to not assume anything, go on what the OP has said only. Which is good in any case? *I think*

Those would be the rule changes, lables could be *triggering restricting/ compensatory* and *triggering binging/COE/BED* and *triggering binging & compensatory*

Thats topic oriantated, and IMO better than mildly and severely, which are terms you cant easily define.
