Im getting married in 9 days and am just starting to develope a rather unattractive runny nose, dry lips and coughing :( Cant eat things like ice cream to sooth my throat or i wont fit into my dress!!! Boooo
Sharli(?); Just eat a little bit. It won't make much, if any at all, different to your weight to be fair. If not the cough sweets help a lot. Or cough mixture. Most colds go within 1 to 2 weeks. I hope you are better for your wedding!! And congrats :P

Had swollen glands yesterday, then woke up this morning with an unbelievably sore throat . Its really difficult to swallow and absolute agony; I can barely eat or drink. My uvula is really swollen and I can now feel it on the back of my tongue (yuk!) it makes me want to cough or gag all the time and I'm talking a bit weird!
Worst thing is I still have to go to work! I work in a shop that doesn't have enough staff at the best of times, but the manager's on holiday so I have to cover his hours; and there was a big promotion starting today so I had to do all the work for that by myself. I only got about half of it finished and wasn't too worried until I got a call from my new (and apparently pretty harsh) area manager just before closing today saying he's coming down tomorrow to check I've done all the promotion stuff!!! I'm really really not looking forward to that, he's going to have a go at me for not finishing the promotion and there are a million and one other things wrong with the shop that he'll probably pick on. I feel so ill and tired as it is, I've already cried this evening and I can't help thinking that I'm just going to burst into tears tomorrow if he says anything to me
I'm feeling very very sorry for myself, and I just want to stay at home tomorrow and sleep, I'm the only one working again tomorrow though so I have to be there.

Leah, maybe it will be worth going to your doctors? Especially since it is so hard to swallow and hurts.
Being ill has stressed me so much that I ended up crying yesterday after coming off the phone to the job centre. They stress me out at the best of times. But even more so when I feel like absolute rubbish.

Yes exactly. Men are dreadfully ill every time they get a cold, whilst us women just shrug it off. (Unless we're actually passing out or something!)
