I've heard a lot of people say that Guilty Crown is just a bad Code Geass rip-off, is that not true? From what i've read it does seem a bit similar, do you think someone who really loves Code Geass would still enjoy it?

Honestly, I loved Code Geass, and I also loved Guilty Crown. I just like that style of show. Given, I thought Code Geass was a bit better in some aspects, but they are still both great animes. Honestly, they are somewhat similar, but I don't think that they are similar enough to call one a rip off of the other. They have a lot in common, but the stories are still quite different. I literally watched it immediately after watching both seasons of Code Geass and still enjoyed it. I think it's just better to think of them as being 2 animes in the same genre, rather than thinking of one as a rip off of the other.
I think it's worth a watch. It's worth watching at least the first couple of episodes to see if you want to watch the rest of it. Try not to watch it with Code Geass in mind, though, otherwise it may only bring attention to the similarities it has, making it seem like a bad rip off.
Just finished watching Steins;Gate. Anyone who hasn't watched it should do so. The first couple of episodes are extremely confusing, but as the story progresses, you'll understand them. One of my favorite animes for sure.
@-Stewie-: Thanks for the heads up. And luckily, I'm a sub guy. I tend to enjoy subs a lot more than dubs. In any case, I think I'll check out the manga first (whenever I get done with the animes I intend to watch next). Then I might go back and watch the anime.
I don't think this has been questioned in this thread, but it comes with all anime discussion. Who are the sub people and who are the dub people?
I'm immediately going to be non-conformist and say neither
I think I'm going to try Soul Eater again. I watched a few eps but got interrupted (though it seemed like a crossbreed of Fullmetal Alchemist and D.Gray-man).
"Zeus did not want man to throw his life away, no matter how much the other evils might torment him, but rather to go on letting himself be tormented anew. To that end, he gives man hope. In truth, it is the most evil of evils because it prolongs man's torment."
I'm a dub person, i've watched a couple of series subbed and I didn't mind them, it's just reading the subtitles with all the movement on the screen made me feel a bit nauseous and gave me a bit of a headache. But I suppose if there was a series that I really want to watch and it hasn't been dubbed yet, I could go for subs, I would probably just take breaks in between watching episodes rather than marathon a whole series at once which is what I usually do.
Luckily so far the series that i've seen the dubbing hasn't been too bad, but I know there are some absolute monstrosities out there!

Currently the Pokemon anime, but recently watched Azumanga Daioh again. :) I love Nana and Elfen Lied too. :)
Aaa I love Pokémon!
I want to watch Elfen Lied but I'm aware it's quite graphic so I don't know if I'd be able to handle it. I seem to switch back and forth from comedy to thriller, but I'm a bit of an emotional wimp!
@Eccentrics: Let me know how you like Lucky Star. I've been considering watching that as well since someone recommended it to me. I've been watching a lot of really dark stuff recently, anyways, and it would be nice to see a good, light hearted anime.
Watched a couple episodes today and remembered that you wanted me to tell you how it is!
Personally I love it, I'm having trouble keeping up with story-intensive animes right now so this is exactly what I was looking for. It doesn't have an ongoing plot so it's just the thing to cheer you up at the end of a rough day or to watch alongside another 'main' anime. It's hilarious, cute and it makes me smile. I can understand why it's so popular :)
Recommended!
I'm considering watching Higurashi na Naku Koro ni or Deadman Wonderland soon. Has anybody seen these?
I'm on to the second season of Full Metal Panic. I love it so much, it's hilarious but also full of action, just perfect for me. Also Sousuke and Kurz may be some of my favourite characters ever. They are just so funny!

Full metal panic is really good I've watched it a couple of times and I still have the second season on my phone because most of the episodes are split into 2 parts so I can just watch 10 minutes here and there when I'm on my break at work or waiting for a bus or something.
It's also one of the few that I can say I actually prefer the dub to the original voiceovers.
I really like the dub, I think some of the humour would definitely be lost on me with subs, as a lot of it comes from just the way Sousuke says things haha. I'm nearing the end of The Second Raid and I really don't want it to end, it's definitely in my top 5 anime.
Edit: I Finished FMP, and i'm finally getting round to watching Fruits Basket, 5 episodes in and i'm really enjoying it!

I'm 5 episodes into Deadman Wonderland, it's good so far, but very dark right from the start, and it does have some gore in it. It's not as bad as say, Elfen Lied if you've seen that, but it is bloody.
Also watching this right after finishing Fruits Basket, I was not prepared at all haha, one part in particular with an eye made me feel a little sick, but that's just me, I get really squeamish with eyes for some reason.
I'm definitely going to go back to something light hearted once i'm finished with Deadman Wonderland though, i'm not sure if I could handle anything gory for a while xD.

I have spent WAY too much time recently watching anime. Let's see in the past 2 weeks or so I have watched;
D.N.Angel - I really enjoyed the series, it was an interesting concept. However this may have been the worst dub I have ever seen, Vic Mignogna did an alright job as Dark Mousy but everyone else, eugh. It was actually quite painful to listen to at times. But the story was good which is the most important part haha
Both seasons of Vampire Knight - I am ashamed to say that I loved these as well, all my friends laughed at me because of the similarities to Twilight (which I hate).
Hetalia: Axis Powers - This was hilarious, I have never laughed so much watching an anime, and I loved the 5 minute episode format. If anyone here hasn't seen it I very much encourage you to do so. The first episode is very hectic and can put people off but after that I don't think I stopped laughing after that.
I'm now 11 episodes into Soul Eater, I was a little put of by different art style at first, but now it's grown on me and I really like it. Plus I think Death the Kid might be one of my favourite characters ever, his symmetry rants are hilarious.

It's probably already been dropped in here already but **** me is Fullmetal Alchemist good! Been rewatching brotherhood over the last few days and its taken up most of my free time.
Planning to watch UraBoku but can't really find the time; I als want to read the manga but then again, same problem.
FMA:Brotherhood is indeed ****ing amazing!\
and @ Palladion - Nooo don't be ashamed of watching VK. It's only a bit similar to twilight. But of course it's much better lol. Nothing can beat the awesomeness of Zero lol
Ah Fullmetal Alchemist is probably what i'm going to watch next once I finish Soul Eater. I've heard so much about it and even watched some anime con panels about it on youtube, I think I'm going to like it :D
Speaking of Anime cons, has anyone here been to any? I kind of want to go to one maybe this summer but none of my friends are big enough anime fans to go with me and i'm not sure I would have fun going by myself.

Soul eater is awesome! It was the anime that got me back in to animes at age 13. I had to watch it as dub though because I hadn't became used to reading in my peripheral vision yet! The art style is a lot more western but it's a great, funny, action-packed anime.
I personally haven't been to an anime con but I'd love to go to one, especially in cosplay. Damn social anxiety! I imagine going on your own wouldn't be as scary as in some places though as from what I've heard people tend to be very welcoming and friendly. It's like a giant gathering of friends since everyone has mutual interests. :)
So much anime O.o
So, since I last posted, what have I watched...
Just finished Cowboy Bebop. Loved it.
Kotoura-san. Good.
Sakurasou no Pet na Kanojo. Great show.
Zetsuen no Tempest. Awesome. Loved this one.
Durarara. Loved it.
Black Cat. Great anime.
Going to watch either Psycho Pass and Darker than Black next. Haven't really heard or looked up much on either one, so it should be interesting.
Also, as for going to conventions, I haven't been as of yet, but I was invited to go to one later this year. I think I'm going to check it out. I've heard it's a ton of fun. Apparently even if you aren't into anime, it's fun to go to an anime convention, so I'd imagine it's even better for people who are into it.
^ I just looked at a brief synopsis of Psycho Pass, it sounds really cool!!! It's definitely being added to my ever growing to watch list.
From what I've seen of conventions they look amazing! I've watched loads of panels on Youtube and they look so fun and interesting. I might try and drag a friend to LAC this July. I really want to go to some of the really big American cons in the future as well, but unfortunately that costs money, so for now I can only dream.
