So it's now the start/nearly the start of the academic year.
Who is returning to uni/just starting uni this year then? :)

I am going to start uni this year :) I move in next Sunday.

My mum has just quit her job so obviously my home has less money coming in now. Do I need to tell SFE, and also if it changes my application will I have to wait ages for them to process it etc and get my loan later?

Student loans are calculated on the financial year before the start of the academic year. So for this year it's the 14/15 financial year that they are based on. Therefore I don't think it will change anything this year. No harm in contacting them and asking though.

If they do change anything there may only be a minor delay, I'm sure they will let you know.

^My mum lost her job mid year. They basically pay you what they were intending, then pay you the extra when they've recalculated it. If they're paying you less (ie. pay increase, parent's got a promotion) then they'd take it off next payment.

Thank you! I've looked online to see what I/my mum should fill out and I still have no idea but I will call them. It's good to know I'm likely to get some more money from them as this will help now I won't have financial support from my mum.

^I hope you can get it sorted.

Im meant to be going back to uni in the next few weeks but Im stressed to the eyeballs because it won't let me enrol despite the advisor saying Im on the module list over a week ago and hes not been back in touch with me despite saying he'd sort it out. And that means I wont get my loan when its due. And Im very worried about not being able to start uni.

Im very stressed uni are still doing nothing about the fact I cant enrol, I havent got my loan or anything and the term starts monday.

Ive tried phoning faculty but they just say to talk to the guy who isnt doing anything. Im going to phone yet again tomorrow and be a bit more forceful if I can. But Im so stressed out. I keep crying.

I rang today and the guy whose supposed to be sorting it is on holiday and didnt pass it on to anyone. Now waiting on a phone call back.

Does anyone know if DSA back date things? Or would I have to wait for it to come through before buying any books etc.

If it's course related text books they may not reimburse you now. And I believe if you already have dsa they may accept reimbursements before you enrol, don't quote me on that though.

i start classes again on the 29th. i have my first project meeting then where i have to decide what i'm going to do my dissertation project on, super nervous as i don't know what to do :s

I started on the 4th. I'm doing PGCE Secondary MFL. I'm meant to be starting my placement on Monday but my bloody DBS check hasn't come back yet and the school won't let me go until I have it :( but on the bright side - if I can't go to the school for a few days then at least I'll have more time to spend on the dissertation for the MA I still haven't finished! That's due on the 7th of October so FINALLY the overlap will be finished soon
