I want to order a load of blackline jewellery. I need barbells that are 1.6mm and between 50mm and 55mm long. Ive searched BAF and Wildcat (my piercer gets all supplies and jewellery from wildcat) and they dont have any that length. Any ideas where I could find some?

Another question: If I bend them, will the PVD coating come off? My scaffolds are not the norm and the bars need to be bent into certain shapes (works grand with SS!)

Just avoid playing with it and maybe try chamomile tea soaks. They calm down angry piercings in no time!

Okay, so I got my nose pierced a couple of weeks ago, and it's healing splendidly. I was just curious if anyone else's hurt really bad. I thought I was going to pass out as soon as the needle came into contact with my skin.

I have 15 piercings and that one was the worst. Also, my tragus is now healed. Woot.

Do Monroes heal as quickly as snake bites? I want to get angel bites, but I'm worried that they will take too long to heal and I don't want them to hurt a lot, either.

And how long before I can change my nose ring?

Thanks for taking the time to read xD.

So I feel really stupid asking this but I want to buy a few more earrings for my cartilage piercing. I had it done about five months or so ago so I'm not planning on changing it for quite a while yet but I still want to buy some earrings for when I can change it. My problem is I don't know the kind of earrings that are used for cartilage piercings. Right now I just have a hoop thing but I want to get more of a stud type thing. I was looking at these http://www.amazon.com/Gauge-Bioplast-Tragus-Labret-Monroe/dp/B001P1ZQK2/ref=sr_1_22?ie=UTF8&s=jewelry&qid=1245800900&sr=8-22

Is this kind used for cartilage piercings? If so how do you get the back off? Also I can't wear anything besides stainless steel due to allergic reactions. So I really don’t know what to get.

Forget the risk and take the fall if it's what you want it's worth it all

Well, usually with earrings like that, the back is stationary and you simply unscrew the front, in your case the star. I'm not sure if they're used for cartilage or not. I've never seen an earring like that in a cartilage piercing, but don't take my word for it! xD

Yes you can use them in ear piercings, you unscrew the front and slide the jewellery through the back of your pierings so the screw on part would at the front.

Also you may want to have a look at titanium, you would be unlikely to have any allergies with it

Sois i'm contemplating a third hole in my ear..

Problem is, i'm out of space on the skin :P

How long do cartilage piercings *really* take to heal. I just can't believe the six month thing that i've been told -- that's how long my last ones took to be properly healed that i could change the earring.

lol yeah i'm way out of the loop :P

It really does vary with cartilage. I got a scaffold last August and its nowhere near healed yet! Ive heard of cartilage taking up to 18 months to heal. Id say a year is more accurate though.

It also varies person by person! If you really want it, go for it. I have 9 cartilage piercings in various places and that scaffold is really the only troublesome one. 3 of them seemed to be healed in 3 months though.

Another thing about cartilage piercings is that they might appear healed and settled and randomly flare up one day. Its totally normal though. They can be buggers to heal but regular sea salt soaks will promote blood flow to the area with heat, help with drainage and can speed up the healing time.

Im sure somebody else can give a better, less waffley answer as Im stupid tired here. :)

Whatever you decide to do, good luck with it!
x

lol well i have time to waits.. some of the gym teachres at my school insist you take all jewerly out, some don't. It'll have to wait until at least september.. just curiosness :P

a year sounds a lot more reasonable than the 'three to six months' thing.

Oh god yeah - 3-6 months would be the absolute minimum healing time.

I have three holes in my left ear (along with various other cartilage piercings) and the third hole is in a weird spot, between my lobes and the cartilage. It healed fairliy quickly (it probably would have healed a lot better and less painfully if it had been done by someone other than me and not with a gun), and I can hardly feel it now. Plus, it looks REALLY cute where it is! :)

What are people's opinions and experiences of scaffolds?

I've had six helix, but I only have two now, lobes twice, tragus and rook, is it likely to be more painful than these?

Not that the pain would put me off, but you know...

Change has a considerable psychological impact on the human mind.
To the fearful it is threatening because it means that things may get worse.
To the confident it is inspiring because the challenge exists to make things better.
To the hopeful it is encouraging because things may get better.

Hi all, just a random note here really. I work as a tattooist and body piercer in the UK, and would be more than happy to contribute something to this site with advice on that sort of thing, only just came across this thread.

Im not very good at emotional support i guess, ive tried to say encouraging things in couple of threads but dont want to say the wrong thing.

This is something i may be able to help with though.

Feel free to PM or il check back here every now and then too.

Ok I have a question, I got my lip pierced on friday and it bled quite a bit. It finally stopped swelling today, but my question is, is it normal to bleed quite a bit and to swell for that long? on the inside of my lip it looked like it had a bruise just above the piercing until today also, is this normal? Any advice would be helpful.

Also another thing how do I keep it clean? they didnt tell me so up til now I have been using clean water and antiseptic stuff to clean the outside and salt water for the inside?

Hiya, yes some bleeding for the first few days is perfectly normal. the bruising is most likely from the forceps used during the piercing procedure and again is nothing to worry about, for the inside of the mouth a watered down mouthwash does the job nicely, 1 part mouthwash with something like listerine to 3 parts sterile water. For the outside use a cotton bud ( carefully ) with a saline solution made up of 1/4 of a teaspoon of non iodized granulated sea salt dissolved in about 250ml of hot ( think coffee ) sterile water ( boiled will do )
Do this twice a day and for extra cleanliness tis always handy to carry about ( where possible ) a bottle of the watered down mouth wash, if your a smoker for example a quick rinse after each smoke just to play it safe.

Not very likely at all :) Everybody has different pain thresholds though. I now have 3 scaffolds. Love them. I also find the more nervous you are the less it hurts. Maybe thats just my own expierience but I feel the adrenaline rush helps with pain lol..

Just pierced the nipples on a whim, and have to say it was the most painful yet satisfying piercing of them all!
