Tonks, I've never tried eating salt dough before, I'm not sure it would taste so nice. If you make shapes with it you can put it in the oven and it hardens, kind of ike clay for three year olds hehe, and then you can use them as decorations/baubles. Soda bread is extremely yummy though.

I thought the John Lewis advert was very pretty, but it was saying 'show someone you love them - by spending £8532/678 at John Lewis'. Which I suppose is what they're aiming for, but 10/10 for prettiness, 0/10 for social inclusion!

Oh sorry I mis-read in my scanning haste!! Ah, that sounds lovely, I may get crafty and make some. Did anyone ever save their calender insides as a kid and then make plaster casts out of them- producing little bells and santa's and sleighs or was that just my family? Will try to make salt dough and eat soda bread at some point and try not to mix the two up with one another :P

I didn't do that but it sounds so lovely! You could glue bales onto them and make little necklaces!

Speaking of advent calendars brinks shameful memories of eating the whole lot in one day during chocolate cravings and then trying to hide the evidence from my parents. Pitifully this happened every year...

I did that! And have done that when in binging mode in the past. Don't be ashamed lovely, you were trying to seek some comfort/stability and deal with a load of emotions plus the stress of the holiday on top of that in a way you knew best.

Also, in my mind, that's the equivalent perhaps of eating a box of malteasers say. Which people do all the time watching the tele. (Understand that doesn't taken into account the emotion side but helps me not to try to feel so cringey over having done it)

I also would try to save up three or four so I could enjoy them all in the one go :P my friend called me out on it saying it was not proper calender eating protocol :P

We would sometimes make a hole and loop string though them and turn them into baubles but they never lasted till the next year!

Today I had the salted caramel brownie from the Costa Christmas menu and it was rather delicious. Another one I'd wholeheartedly recommend!

CHRISTMASSSS! Just wanted to drop in and be super excited for Christmas. It's my favourite time of year, I absolutely love everything about Christmas.

Both my housemates hate Christmas and it's so upsetting, im practically ready to decorate the house already.

Scribbles, I adore Yankee candles and also have a plethora of Christmas candles! They smell so lovely :)

Have you ever looked fear in the face and said "I just don't care"?

Oh Hannah, that is sad!!

In spite of my John Lewis advert hating, I'm also super excited about Christmas! I know it's early but I'm actually enjoying all the Christmas things in the shops and I'm so looking forward to carol services and decorating our tree, and mulled wine and mince pies and wrapping up all the presents I'm making for people!

Hot chocolate and Home Alone while decorating the tree sounds like such a lovely tradition! :)

I'm happy to report that my visit to Costa today was much more satisfying! I had a gingerbread latte which is always good, complete with baby gingerbread person, and I had a turkey & trimmings toastie, which was lovely!

They've already started! I went in there last week & tried to order an iced latte only to find out they've stopped selling them! They die a salted caramel latte this time of year & it's heaven!

Ah I did not know when I went into Starbucks yesterday whether the Costa caramel fudge hot chocolate could be topped. The Honey & Almond hot chocolate was epicness in a mug!! It tasted like amaretto (which I love) in a mug with chocolate moose/yoghurt like mix on top what with the cream and chocolate sauce- omnom. Not sure which I prefer! So have had the two best hot chocolates of my life in as many weeks. Winter is by no means my favourite season but I'm definitely enjoying it more this year than previously :)

I went into the Yankee Candle shop yesterday and they have a name and smell for every occasion!! I love them. I can't have candles in my room but I have a couple of little ones littering my desk that I sniff every now and again :P

Scribbles - haha I totally agree everything NEEDS to be decorated! But the start of December sounds like a good compromise :p haha pets are just an absolute nightmare with decorations! What pets do you have?

Ooh I thought about getting Christmas baking but it was a bit sweet for me. I have alpine spruce in a big glass jar and Christmas wreath and gingerbread cookie as little candles.

Glad you enjoyed your Costa trip Hannah. I might think of getting a Christmas drink at costa soon. Tonks honey and almond how chocolate sounds like heaven! I might try that one out ;p

I havent seen the John Lewis or Sainsbury's advert.

I noticed that Cafe Nero had their Christmas drinks in this week - had a spiced orange latte and an mince pie. I have been eating mince pies since October though.

Happy early Christmas everyone!!

I was thinking of making a thread about this idea I just had, but sure it fits in this thread, without possibly annoying more people with another Christmas thread lol.

So anyway, I was looking at a gift catalogue and saw this Countdown to Christmas advent thing, but it has a different make up for every day, so I looked it up online but then I thought, well hang on, I've got tonnes of make up, I usually get some as gifts and it all adds up, so I'm gonna make my own make up advent calendar! And I can make a box and decorate it too. If I have enough I may even make one for my friend.

So...I thought I'd share the idea, maybe some of you would like to make your own advent calendars too, doesn't have to be make up, could be anything really, I'm gonna stick with the make up since I already have a lot of it never used and it should feel good to use different ones every day! Here's a link to the one I saw, it has a list of what's in it too Cpuntdown to Christmas so I'm gonna use it for ideas.

Maybe people could go to the poundshop etc and get some stuff, I don't know mahbe little games and stuff, or you could organise to make them with a friend, for each other, so you'll be surprised by the gifts! I'm gonna start on mine right now, I'll update progress if anyone is i terested!!

Update already!! So I rooted out some make up but also some fancy body sprays, hand creams, shower scrubs, etc. And so I've included them and I hadn't got a box and I'm lazy so I put them all in this fancy bag and tried two Christmas signs on it, I've got 13 items but the boxes are all sets, so I'm gonna use one make up and one nice smelly thing every day in December! And I was too lazy to sort out days so I'll just pick at random or do a lucky dip thing. Anyway here's pics!!

The following content has been hidden - Reason : space-pics

(Btw, I always use smelly stuff, don't think I don't! It's just about taking a second for myself every day.

I feel smug, Ive bought all my christmas gifts, the wonders of online shopping! Now just have to wait for them all to arrive. And then to make some of them.
