It appears that the chat is broken for some users. It recently just stopped working. Whenever I click on the join chat link I get a loading screen like normal then it times out and I get an "Authentication Failed" message. I do not personally know any admins, but I would hope that someone of some sort of power could see this and attempt to fix it.
Eight of the ten most recent threads in here are about chat already, including this issue. :p Even though there's a sticky at the top of the page about chat.
It means we're repeating a lot of the same advice...
* Are you using a fresh link - not refreshing or using a bookmark?
* What browser are you using?
* Have you tried a different browser?
* Have you tried a different computer?
* Is any of these helped, have you tried cleaning out your cookies?

oh, umm. When I typed in the topic only two came up and were from more than 2 years ago. So I figured that it wasn't there. It should work because it has worked on this computer before under the exact same conditions.
There are only so msny browers you can use. Doesnt work in my mozilla, safari, IE or, now, puffin.
Its a chat problem, not a browser problem.
that is what i believe too because nobody i have talked with has figured out the issue... so i guess people like ME get nothing while everyone else gets what they want... love this pathetic world we live in
KeepItSimple please try and understand the mods and members don't control the actual physical chat system. All they can do is suggest fixes that have worked for others and it is very difficult to help remotely when it keeps persisting.
I also think you'll find you'll get more help for your issue if you focus on the problem. It is not a personal slight that it doesn't work. I'm sorry you have such a negative view about the world now. I hope you can see sometimes things don't work, it doesn't have to be personal (especially with technology).
Do we know if this issue is being resolved? I know there's not a lot the mods can do personally (and I'm not getting at you guys) but surely someone...somewhere can sort it?
I guess it'll be resolved in the Autumn when we switch the clocks back. :p
I imagine it's to do with a difference in time between RYL and Chat by an hour, which technially makes them different days, which triggers and authentication fail (like then you refresh the URL after midnight normally).
