Nope it's a long hard slog but from what I hear it's worth it. And you might want to get this moved to the substance abuse forum.

Yes its possible to walk away from drinking, smoking etc without struggling. The hard part is wanting to quit. People find it hard to quit because in their mind they know its wise but they don't really want to quit so its like a person pulling themselves up by the bootstraps. I am reminded of St Augustine's quote from his autobiography "Save me lord - but not just yet". I'll have to get back to this latter since I'm pressed for time now

I suggest, rather than drinking alcohol, why you don't try to replace something habit where in you will enjoy and will caught your very attention. (Example: Having fun with family, or playing games or sports) ..

Maybe this would hep you

This is kind of a belated response, but I've only just seen this.

There isn't an easy way but there are a few things that I found to help me ease off heavy drinking. First of all, get hold of the following:

- Multivitamin
- B Vitamin Complex
- Milk Thistle

I took all of these when I was detoxing and I don't know for sure, but I feel like they helped with the cravings. Also, EAT. Eat a lot. Stay full, eat filling, comforting foods and don't worry about eating junk food. Just stay satisfied until you're off the alcohol.

Actually staying off alcohol is hard, at least it is for me. I eat a lot of nutritious, filling foods as I tend to want a drink when I get hungry. Don't be too hard on yourself and if you have a drink, it doesn't matter, just keep your goal in mind for the next day.
