I don't really like The Thick of It so I am a bit unsure, but I like the fact he's older. It may mean Doctor Who will start to feel less like a kids show again.
Isn’t it funny how day by day nothing changes but when you look back, everything is different…
you once called your brain a hard drive, well say hello to the virus.
I'm not really sure what I think of him either. Will be interested to know how they will explain his previous times in Dr Who and in Torchwood. But I'm going to give him a chance.

I am transsexual and homoromantic and proud to be.
I haven't watched Doctor Who in a while (I've been meaning to catch up!), and I'm not familiar with Peter Capaldi or his work, but I like the look of him and I'm willing to give him a chance.
I personally feel it's a good choice as he's a good actor and I agree with him being older it may be less kiddy which i'm looking forward to! I think he'll pull it off well; hopefully anyway!

I have no idea who this man is, so have no opinion of him to go on really. I don't want the Dr to be grumpy again. Christopher Ecclestone did grumpy someitmes and I didn't like it. Bring back David Tennant :)

They've had older persons as the doctor before, look at the first eight of them, all closer to Peter's age than Matt Smith's.
They were great Doctors and the show was loved, I think it still will be when the new doctor arrives.
I'm looking forward to seeing what kind of Doctor he will be. Certainly less angry and shouty than he was In The Thick of It.
maybe a little more serious, but I'll bet he'll still be good. I enjoyed his performance in Fire's of Pompeii.

I enjoy that he was a W.H.O Doctor in World War Z and now he is doctor who!
There are times to stay put, and what you want will come to you.
But there are times to go out into the world and find such a thing for yourself.
I aint no abacus but you can count on me.
A little apprehensive about the Dr/companion relationship but I know it's only more recent Drs that have been younger. I don't really care that he was I'm Fires of Pompeii. I do find the Children of Earth connection slightly more problematic, mainly cos I love Jack and I don't see how Jack can be a part of episodes given the connection. He wasn't just a cameo in Torchwod. I'll give him a go though. Older might at least offer something new. Still sad to see Matt Smith go.
I think the BBC missed their chance really. I think it's time enough they didn't stick with white and male, I was hoping they would choose someone who didn't fall into that. I was hoping for a non white female doctor who would really kick ass and have companions of either sex. Now that would be great!
I don't really know Peter Capaldi's work, so will have to watch to make a proper comment. We'll see.

one day we might have a black doctor, or a female doctor, or even an american doctor.
If we ended up with a black, female, american doctor someone at the bbc will be getting a grant. that is a lot of ticked boxes there.

its been going fifty years, they aren't going to end it now. it had its break through the 90's and everyone wanted it back. Doctor Who will not be cancelled after a decade.
