Distractions for someone without internet or a PC
Hi,
A friend of mine hit rock bottom on Tuesday and all his friends and I are looking for ways to help him out. At the moment he's living on his own in his house and we keep popping round but can't be there all the time.
I'd give him a link to this website as it helped me a lot when I was suffering from mental health issues but he currently doesn't have enough money to pay for bills and will be selling his PC and games consoles so that he can start to get back on his feet.
Does anyone have any ideas of distractions which don't require electricity or the internet to keep my friend occupied while he's alone so that he doesn't end up overwhelmed by his own thoughts? He doesn't really enjoy reading so I'm at a bit of a loss.
Thanks in advance for your help!
A

The big distraction list might have some ideas.
Writing letters
Going for walks
Crafts

Some sort of craft project, learning to decorate cakes or make clothes or something like that.

If he doesn't enjoy reading, maybe magazines would be a better option than books. Some barely have any writing in but can still be fun to browse (tattoo ones can be fun, but depends on his interests).

How does he feel about jigsaws? They can be quite cheap from charity shops but I found if people know you like doing jigsaws then they are quite pleased to pass on some of theirs!

I was going to mention The Big Distraction List but see it already has been. I agree with what Amy has written as it's what i often do myself.
