the strategy i've been taught to get through panic attacks is pretty much to not let my mind get caught up in them. your body cannot sustain panic level for very long, so if you can tolerate it and not let your mind make it worse, the feelings will taper off fairly quickly. one thing i do is to first off remind myself that A: this is a panic attack and B: it can't actuallly hurt me. it is just really unpleasant. i'll think of each symptom i'm having (heart pounding, can't breathe, sweating, etc) and rate how bad it is on a scale of 1-5 or 1-7, and then wait a few minutes, and then re-rate each symptom, so i can sorta watch as they each build up to a peak and then die down. to keep my mind from over reacting, i'll think about other situations when i get similar sensations (like sweating i'll think of a really hot day, heart pounding i think of exercising, hard to breathe i think of swimming underwater) and that helps me remember that they are just temporary sensations and don't mean anything terrible
