Oh for goodness sake, why can there not just be a grown up discussion about something, is there really any need?
There are times to stay put, and what you want will come to you.
But there are times to go out into the world and find such a thing for yourself.
I aint no abacus but you can count on me.
I am not arguing or causing any problems, I have said my piece and am replying when people are talking to me. Anyway, I hope the whole fb group thing can be organised in a way in which most people are happy with the outcome.
Moving on from that anyways, there are two arguments here which can't necessarily be resolved.
On the one hand, there could be none of the RYL rules because it is Facebook and not the actual site, however this could leave members open to bullying without consequences and other problems which could easily leak onto RYL and cause more drama for mods.
On the other hand, there could be all the rules in place on that Facebook group, but what would be the point in having that group at all if it is no different to RYL? Not to mention, how would one be punished/blocked/given points for breaking the rules there but not here? Would all mods need to be made admin? I for one would not want to be modding two completely separate sites/groups.
I just see it as pointless, there are too many loose ends and issues on RYL already without adding a Facebook group. And although Harley was the one who made the group, maybe he is unaware of any issues it may or may not cause. One would have had to be active on this site at least once in a blue moon to realise potential problems and, no offence intended Harley if you've stuck around long enough to follow this thread, but it's highly unlikely you have any idea how this website is really being run anymore.
That's just my opinion of course, it's pointless. So.
I'm gonna tap him like a maple tree. I'm gonna search him for some syrups. I'm gonna be having sex with him.

Again I was added to the group and made admin without my knowledge!
I made the following post on the group
People should be able to remove themselves without an admin I assume. So maybe we should do the same were people can be invited to join without it being an automatic join (I was added without my knowledge) then there is no pressure.
As this has been set up by Harley Molesworth I would presume the rules would be the same as the site and so on maybe he could confirm it as well!
There have been other fb groups over the years so the only thing that is unique about this is the sheer number of members in such a short time and the fact it was set up by Harley!

I can see everyones point and why they might be worried. But personally I don't think you can structure a facebook group on the same rules as RYL, regardless of whether it's linked or not. As someone has already pointed out you can't monitor us all the time, people off ryl meet without permission, talk on facebook, msn, etc. And there's nothing stopping them from breaking the rules there, or bullying someone if they are that way inclined. I think keeping to the rules keep it civil and no triggering content should be enough. If people are going to be horrible or post bad content, thats why admins have the ability to ban. All thats happening in the group is some light hearted chat and funny picture sharing, why not just let it be that simple? Want to join, let someone know...get added and don't want to be or it takes a turn you don't like, then leave.

Yes but the point is the difference between talking on fb/msn and whatever else and this is that the facebook page is the official link with the website, therefore either its the part of RYL where rule breaking and so on is allowed to take place, or it has exactly the same rules as RYL which makes it complete redundant.

Given RYL can't track accounts/IP addresses etc. then banned members and people who aren't RYL members can join (and have done), and it is impossible for the mods to know who is who, and penalise people for breaking rules.
Already I seem to remember Mike getting a lot of flak that wouldn't have been allowed here...
It doesn't matter where you come from; it matters where you go.
No-one gets remembered for the things they didn't do.
We won't all be here this time next year,
so while you can take a picture of us.
We're definitely going to hell,
but we'll have all the best stories to tell.
In that case, would perhaps a group name change be a possibility?
Also, might I make a suggestion that yourself, Mike, Cam, maybe Harley if he is available, and all the other mods from here get together as you would to talk about this website... and see if you can come to any kind of final decision?
As much as I love a democracy, the views on this fb group are far too divided for any kind of joint decision to be made in that respect and there are over 200 members in there.
So maybe it is something for all the mods and Mike to talk about once and for all?

I agree with you in that sense. Perhaps then the group should remove any official links to ryl and be something seperate with its own rules?
Beckie, Harley created a Facebook page so that any members who wanted updates on the downtime on here which happened on Saturday night, could be added to the group (also Twitter apparently) and kept updated of the goings on.
After that the group remained open, Mike was put in charge without being asked as far as I am aware, and has received a lot of slack for it. It is now trying to be decided what will happen to the group from here.
Sorry i've neglected this thread so much, not been in the head space to comment and all that.
I hope I come across as someone sensible or something. I don't know.
Right, Yes, i've got slack for the page, I don't care about getting slack for it, I can live with that, just as long as people are enjoying the page that's all that matters to me! So forget that.
If the mods want to put rules in place as it is attached to RYL i'm personally fine with that, i'm open for dialog with the mods if they want to do that but they have to be rules I can enforce, like 'no banned members are allowed' I can't enforce that so that's out right away.
I personally don't care about the group, the only reason I carry on with it is because people DO enjoy it and like the group.
But if there are banned members allowed on the page then what is the point of them being banned from RYL?!

ah, ok that makes sense. thank you!
I'm fine! Totally fine. I don't know why it's coming out all loud and squeaky, 'cause really, I'm fine!
The banned members thing is one of the main concerns I had about the facebook group, because it cant really be enforced, but as Liv says, it then becomes kind of pointless for them to be banned from here.
Also, I dont know if there has been any so far... but meet talk? Is there going to be a rule about no meet talk or whatever? Since banned members dont have access to meets and meet information.
