Oh gosh, I had a similar awkward time when I was little! My mother always kept pads in the toilet and I had no idea what they were, so being young an innocent, I deduced that they were for absorbing pee like an adult nappy! This lead to my mother sitting me down and trying to have an awkward talk with me thinking I'd started my period at the mere age of 5. Woe :(

I've been told by my friends that mini panties aren't common, but they're all I've ever worn! They're pretty much just a substyle of briefs I guess. They still cover the butt and all that but they're just a little bit smaller, I think they fall in to the catagory of high-rise briefs as well. :)
After reading the descriptions, yes I think the high rise thingys I wear are mini-panties. I wear these most, but do have regulars aswell!

Thongs are only uncomfortable if they're like crap I think, maybe this is tmi, but the Primark ones I got are AWFUL, I think they might be borderline G string, idk, but they're really uncomfy and make me feel too exposed. But I have some nice ones from La Senza, and they're comfier, but still.
I only wear thongs these days if I have no other underwear left and it's all in the wash. Woe for no sexy sexy sex life! HA!

When I was growing up I wore Y fronts but changed to boxer shorts when I was a teenager & have stuck with them ever since. I did briefly own 3 pairs of male thongs in my early twenties but I rarely wore them; they were far too uncomfortable.
Too right they were. I alway found them to be a bit too restrictive and an absolute pain when going for a wee; I used to just pull my pants down rather than faff about with the hole in the front. Boxer shorts are nice and roomy plus convenient when going for a whizz.

Regular panties! I'm boring, went through a phase of wearing mini panties when I was at my thinnest but ever since being *ahem* a larger woman wear regular panties as they are most comfortable! I cannot imagine wearing a thong I imagine I'd always be trying to pull the string out lol how un-lady like that would be :p!
