Supportive parent

Hello,

I joined this site a short time ago, in order to be more supportive for my daughter. She SH's and at first I did not know anything about what she was doing so it scared me a little bit.

She has a friend at school who also SH and he introduced her to the butterfly project, doing the research on that is how I found this website. I introduced her to it first and then a short while later joined myself.

I am a single parent and I have one other child at home. I do the best I can with what I have, yet sometimes I feel as if it is not enough. I want her to stop hurting herself, but I don't want to impose my will on her, at least not completly. I struggle with her music choices, her clothing, the make up, and all I want is my little girl back. I know that is an impossible dream, but maybe someday she will be more open to listening to my reasonings.

The best advice I can give is show her that your there for her if she needs you and show that you care by doing so. Explain to her that you want to help but aren't sure how.
My parents don't know that I SH.

Thanks Angel, I do my best by showing that I care for her and that I am always here for her.

I hope that one day you will have the strength and the courage to tell your parents, and may they be as understanding of you as I try to be with my daughter. :)

That's good, I'm sure she will appriate it someday. Yeah hopefully but probably not considering I'm 21 not sure how they can help. They adopted me when I was 4, I went through foster homes before that so I don't really have that attachment to them that most kids have with their parents.
