Laxative issues

Hi everyone,

I've been having lots of issues with food lately.... I've been eating very little calories for the past week and then using laxatives to get out what I did eat.
I am overweight for how old I am and how tall I am.......... I don't feel like being so big anymore but I feel like if I don't do this ill get even bigger and that I won't be able to stand. Any help or advice? I know this isn't right but I don't know if I can stop using the laxatives.

This is completely hypocritical for me to say but laxatives don't help with weight loss as all the calories are absorbed well before the laxatives take effect. Easier said than done ditching them though as laxatives do help with 'feeling empty', but in the long run all they do is mess up your body beyond repair. As there is no benefit with using in weight loss it seems almost pointless to use them, as difficult as it may seem to get off them it really is for the best. Similarly with the restriction, a healthy diet and exercise work far better.

Hey, I'm sorry to hear how much you're struggling. Are you getting any professional help right now? I'm wondering if maybe you should speak with someone about these thoughts you are having.

Laxative use doesn't help you lose weight. It just reduces water and can ultimately make you very sick, make your electrolytes unbalanced, and of course you may result in colon issues that are life long. They are not something you want to be using if you don't medically have you - and that is why it's best you seek help.

Your thoughts about your weight sound really difficult to be having, I know because I often experience them myself. I find it helpful to speak about them to a professional who can help me sort through them, maybe it will help you too.

Take care x
