This thread has cheered me up - I expected it to either sink, or to get bombarded with messages telling me that I'm pedantic. Glad people can see the funny side. And that you've made me feel a bit sane!

I can't stand it when people put a random k on the end of the word.

Somethink rather than something.

Am I the only one who has seen this? lol

^ Yes! And when people say somethink/anythink - seriously?! Something is so much easier to say than somethink, and it's correct. Why WHY would you put a k on the end?

Or should that be why or why not??

I don't know how common this is outside Ireland (or if it even exists anywhere else), but I hate it when people say "and anyway."

For example: "I hate studying this poem, I won't have to use it in real life, and I don't know what any of it means and anyway."

I've never seen it written down, only heard it spoken, but it's so jarring. It makes me want to slap the faculty of speech right out of the speaker, because they've forfeited their right to the English language through their wanton butchery of it.

I've never heard anyone say that. Good thing too, because if I were brought to court, I don't think "he used terrible grammar" would hold up as a legal defence in a murder trial.

Oh and when someone types like this without commas or full stops or anything in the sentence to slow your reading down which causes you to read the entire sentence really fast and forget a lot of information and therefore have to read the sentence again but mentally put in commas and full stops so it makes more sense I hate people who do that so badly they deserve to be punched in the face really hard
:)
YES! Thank you! I can't stand it when people don't put any freaking commas! Good God, people... Just learn punctuation and basic grammar, and then you'll be all right with me! For the most part, at least. I also can't stand some other things that aren't so basic, but I must be having a brain block because I can't think of them right now.

Though everyone makes mistakes. For instance, when you read over a post you wrote or something along those lines, you usually read it as how you meant it. Then you miss all of the grammar mistakes or typos because you're not quite reading every letter. Also, I don't think everyone with proper grammar knows every single grammar rule. (Plus, they differ in different countries, so you could definitely get things wrong if you're not native to that country.)

This was seriously the highlight of my day. Well, you have to count yesterday, too. It's only 1:00 right now, so I'm including it in with today.
