I saw it today :) Was pleased I managed not to hide my face in my coat cos normally I'm very bad at anything horror-like. I saw it with both my parents which made the lesbian sex and masturbation a tad awkward, but apart from that the film was amazing. I was tense from the beginning though, which I guess is the point.
In the UK this is rated a 15. Anyone else think this is a bit low? I know it's not full of blood and gore but particularly the stabbing scenes I, and several other adults I've spoken to, found quite cringeworthy. I know that my (extremely mature for her age) 15-year-old sister wouldn't have been able to handle it... just wondering.
The reference to SI is symbolic. Her mother makes a point of her scratching herself in the past and there is one scene where you see her doing it, but only for a quick second, and it looks no worse than someone itching an itch. She does bleed a lot throughout the film though in a symbolic sort of way. One scene could be especially triggering for SI since you see her pick at a would, not really as SI though, and it gets pretty bad. You also see a few graphic wounds on a patient in the hospital for a quick second.
There are, I think two stabbing scenes. One in which someone stabs her face. (I closed my eyes for most of that =\ ) and another scene in which there is a struggle involving choking and a stabbing.
As for ED references, I think it is mostly that she throws up sometimes due to anxiety, not because of an ED, and it is stated once in the movie that she has "lost weight." You hear her throw up in a bathroom stall near the beginning. In another scene you see her about to throw up in a toilet but I don't think she does. There is another though where you actually see her throw up. All are pretty quick scenes. There is one more where she refuses a piece of cake, then feels guilty and agrees to eat a piece reluctantly.
There are a few sexual scenes, including two in which she masturbates, and a couple others in which someone touches her there. There's a lesbian scene that goes a bit further than just making out and touching. I think it's also important to say that there is a scene with the main character that I think could be triggering sexual harassment, although I don't think the main character felt uncomfortable when it happened.
There's also a scene at a club, that's really strobe light flashy, if that bothers you.
Giving up doesn't always mean you're weak.
Sometimes it just means you're strong enough to let go.
is the make up think meant to be a joke or something ? Im a bit disturbed ,Im not being abusive or smart ,maybe Im missing something
It became like a sort of prison. Encased in a silver shell, words so full of bleeding need spilled like drops on dry leaves. And all the while laughter prevailed a long way from here. Nowhere land, nowhere time, nowhere space.
“The good things don’t always soften the bad, but vice-versa, the bad things don’t necessarily spoil the good things and make them unimportant.”
“Nobody important? Blimey, that’s amazing. Do you know, in nine hundred years of time and space I’ve never met anyone who wasn’t important before.”
“If it’s time to go, remember what you’re leaving. Remember the best. My friends have always been the best of me.”
What content does it contain isn the way of sexual references and stuff, or what. I just need to check it's okay for me to watch as I'm not yet 15, thanks x
I wouldn't agree to you watching it if it was up to me. I think you are too young.

I agree.
Good film but several parts have stuck in my mind and still make me feel a bit sick - especially the face stabbing part and one part with her finger.
Great music and ballet though.
Even as the stone of the fruit must break

so must you know pain.
There are only two ways in which one can live their life. One is as though nothing is a miracle, the other is as though everything is.
Oh it was stunning, I really loved it. Thought it was shot really well. As already mentioned, the SI and ED issues are only indirect which is good, and works really well actually with the rest of the plot. A couple of really jumpy bits - and I'm not usually one that likes jumpy stuff, but thought they were fab - and a couple of squirmy bits too - which were perfect for the plot, not superfluous or anything. All round fab film. Definately one to see.
