this is for people who are/have been/are on mirtazapine. wasn't sure where to post either.so sorry if its in the wrong place.
i started on it yesterday, wasn't sure if i could state the dose, but was wondering how long it took for the 'zombie' like feeling to wear off or did it stay with you?
i know everyone is different but was just looking for some positives really.
any feedback would be appreciated.
thanx

I've been on it nearly 5 years. Am now on half my original dose [15mg, was on 30mg for 4 and a half years, the first 7 months I was on efexor as well, slowly withdrawing from it in the last few months], which is less sedating, but at no point did it ever 'zombie' me.

Reason: Qualifying doses.
I've been on it for years too and I'm still on the maximum dose it made me really sleepy for the first week but your body soon gets used to it I wouldn't want to stop taking it now it really helps me sleep better.
When I started at 15mg, 20 mins after taking it I felt like I had been hit by a lorry and I would have to immediately go to bed. I would sleep straight through the night, get up for breakfast, and go back to bed until lunch. And probably nap in the afternoon.
This lasted for about two weeks and then I felt more human again. But the mirtaz still gave me a great nights sleep. I also felt "normal" on the mirtaz, no self harm urges, no suicidal thoughts, minimal depression. But I was eating constantly. It makes you so hungry.
And after 9 months, it stopped working. Increased right up to 45mg with no effect and I had to switch to trazodone which I am still on and its working brilliantly.
Isn’t it funny how day by day nothing changes but when you look back, everything is different…
you once called your brain a hard drive, well say hello to the virus.
i was put on 15mg, was only my first day of taking it last night tho, so i will stick with it, i think its because im used to sleeping so crap, and then all of a sudden sleeping for 15 hours.
i have noticed that my appetite has changed alot, although that started when i was on amitriptyline ....but we'll see how it goes.
Is this a beta blocker?
I started mine recently on 80mg, and I had a similar effect for the first few days. First night, like you, I slept pretty much 15 hours lol Thankfully I wasn't working the saturday!
It'll wear off. The main difference I noticed (you might get this, might not) was that everything seemed to be a bit slower?
When I took mirtazapine, it didn't really give that 'zombify' effect, more the 'moggy' feeling effect. Only lasted about a week, then I got used it. It didn't really help me.

it a beautiful beautiful drug.
purely because i slept on it, it's the only sedating medication that has made me sleep.
sadly i gained weight & refuse it now on those grounds.
but give it a try, you can't lose anything.
yeah i had pretty much the same affect as everyone else. it helped me sleep and after the initial grogginess it just gave me a really good nights sleep. It made me put on a huge amount of weight though and didn't really have a positive effect on my mood.
i didnt change my appetiate cdue to my ed
but i did make me zombie like but i also get side effects quiet bad but most people are different
i was drowsey alot and when in bed my body fel parlised like to heavy to lift also made me extremly angrey or violent
so i decided to come off it ,but it should wear off after awhile and it depends on the person
