But maybe these kids dont claim to be individual and dress how they like even if it is considered to be mainstream instead of wasting their lives thinking 'i must be different and individual' and then being slated for that because its either not different enough or trying too hard.
I got called emo at work because i was different from the rest (not intentionally) and that never bothered me much, it was said with love...i think
This is true Mari, she's just really shy in the show and I think a bit paranoid that people will think her love of cute things will make her seem silly or childish.
what does it take to be emo?
is there a dress code
it is somethingtobe proud of
is it worth gettingbeat up over
By becoming emo your labeling yourself and probably will make things worse for yourself, its not meant to sound nasty, its just Ive been there and trust me people will discriminate even more.
I thought I'd give my veiws on this since I dress 'Emo' or 'Scene' or whichever. Im not fid of laybels but I get called Emo a lot.
What most people think is Emo, usualy isnt Emo. Mainly Chavs. Sorry, I live in an area where Laybels are everything. Chavs are basicaly the 'In Crowd' And Chavs hate Emo's. This is how it is where I live anyways. What the Chavs think 'Emo' is, isnt true. They think Emo is basicaly someone who wears black, has black hair, peircings, and the biggest thing they think of as Emo is 'Wrist slitting' This I have always found offensive. Ive had people yell at me "Emo! Go slit your wrists you Emo!" And I hate it.
But what an Emo actualy is is different.
They wear Skinny Jeans, but not always black. I have a few pairs that are brightly coloured. Unusual colours for trousers. Like red, and yellow, and even patterened ones. I personaly just wear any old T-shirt since I never take my jumper off (Go figure) But my jumpers are kinda... well I have a black one with white spots, one with loads of cartoons on, a Nightmare Before Christmas one... that kinda thing. Most people think all Emo's wear Converse, but thats not true. They wear Vanns, and even Skater shoes. As for hair... Emo's tend to go for dark colours.
The difference between Emo and Scene is basicaly... Scene Kids are more... Girly. I dont know the difference between a Emo guy and a Scene guy, they seem the same to me. Scene kids have bright colored hair, backcomb it. They wear brightly coloured clothes, and... yeah are much more girly.
Both Scene kids and Emos like peircings, and tattoo's Emo's tend to go for eyebrow, lip, or snakebites. While scene kids go for things a bit more adventerous, Snakebites, septum, Serface peircings, cheek peircings.
Both scene kids and emo's like Rock music. Emo's tend to stick to rock music, and metal, while Scene kids also like Screemo, and trance music.
And... I dont like how people here are making fun of Emo's.. yeah maybe im being over sensative.. but yeah. I dont like the Emo's and Scene kids who are totaly fake, and do it for attention. Yeah those are idiots. But some people generaly like that kinda style. Me for example. I like Emo clothes and music. I dont do it cause once it was considered 'cool'
And tbh i dont like labels either. But where I live if someone calls you 'Emo' and you deny it, it makes them call you it more. So I just go along with it.
I really dont want anyone to have a go at me, im just sharing my veiws.
