General Medical Question - Non Urgent - Girlie shaving issues..... help
So I never regularly shaved down there. Wow this is embarrassing, But I wanted to start. Whenever I have it's gotten fairly irritated, so someone told me to shave every day for a while so that my skin gets used to it and wont get irritated anymore, unfortunately I tried this. Last night I shaved again after having shaved within the last day or two and I was bleeding from pretty much every hole that had previously held a hair. It took a while to stop, I cleaned the area with soap and water then put some tea tree oil on (natural antiseptic)
and now, the next morning, the area is covered with red painful bumps so I thought it fitting to put some lotion on the help alleviate or prevent more irritation. No, all I got was severely BURNING lady parts. so I suppose what I am asking is:
Is this supposed to happen? or normal?
What can I do to fix it or help it now?
And how can this be better approached in future?

this is what happened to me and still does at times.
i find using a razor with the moisture strips help and sensitve shaving foam.
also wait til the soreness has gone before shaving again and use perfume free moisturisor after.

Hey,
I don't know if you'd consider it - but waxing really is the way forward. I find it hurts less than having my legs waxed!!! REally it's not that bad at all... Is there anything that's stopped you trying it?

Are you shaving against the hair growth? That might be the cause of the bleeding. Always, on sensitive parts like this, go WITH the grain. You will need to shave more often, but it should stop the rash and bleeding etc.
Was the tea tree concentrate? If so did you water it down? It's a very sensitive area down there, such products are not really suitible. Sudocream (you can get it over the counter or on prescription) could be better.
In general, I think that shaving foam, and possibly those gell strip razors are the way forward (not disposible).

You should avoid shaving the area until it has healed.
When shaving you should invest in some senstive shaving foam.
Also shave with the direction of the hairs in this area.
You can also use some cream such as anti septic to help ease the stinging at the moment.

thanks ladies. I have obnoxiously sensitive skin, so that is probably what did it. I'm sure I'll be fine.

get some 'magic cream', i know it says its for me's faces, but seriously, it does the trick. i cannot wax due to the rash/scarring it leaves lasting for 6-8weeks, shaving i have same prob as you, magic cream does the job, just put it on, leave for the recommended amount of time and use a shower scrubbie to get all the hair off (helps if you trim first) using lukewarm water.
works on hubbie's bits too :p
