To stop needing to invest in bandages or have all my clothing stuck in the wounds, ripping them apart when you undress.
Because it wont make me feel good about myself.
It'll devalue all I am trying to do to show others recovery is worth it and sustainable.
The risk of needing to go to A and E is not worth taking, because then EVERYONE finds out and its not just 'my problem' anymore. The unfairness of the fact that your dad feels he has to drive you 4 hours to and from the burns unit as well as get home when he is exhausted with his own life.
Because I need to be able to wear a swimming costume to enjoy my holiday and swim with my partners neice and nephews.
Itching, oh yeah, you forget how bad it itches when its healing properly.

My reasons
. So I don't roll over onto fresh bruises during the night
. So I won't have to worry about someone seeing
. Life won't revolve around keeping my secret
. I won't have to see how much damage I am capable of doing
. I don't want sprains or broken bones
. I am sick of wincing when bruised skin even brushes against something.
. I want to prove that I can overcome this.
. I want to be able to say " self-harm doesn't have me."

I think this thread needs bumping again (:
-Because I don't have time to wait for 7 hours to see a psych at A&E.
-Because it really will be difficult to get a job with any more scars.
