Sleep

Hi there. Basically for the last few years I had trouble sleeping - I'd lay awake for hours and get maybe 2 to 6 hours. But since starting antidepressants (2 types) I have slept so much. Like I literally get up for sixth form (if i can), get home at 4pm and sleep through to the next morning. i slept for 18 hours the other day. Thing is, its refreshing getting sleep, but I literally can't function as i am too exhausted. I can't go on like this its ridiculous. Any advice for staying awake and being able to cope with a huge workload when exhausted.
? Thanks in advance xx

Is your doctor aware of the side effects? I think considering a change in meds might be the way to go here.

My doctor is useless and just goes "yes, tiredness can be a side effect", even though I have explained that both citalopram and fluoxetine have left me exhausted. I am going back on Friday so I'm going to make a big deal out of it to my GP, hoping they will actually care in the slightest.

That sounds like a good idea. Maybe also ask for a referal to a psych or similar as they have a better knowledge of MH meds?

What happens/changes if I'm referred to a psych? (As in, would I go for regular appointments, and what would happen?) I've had psychotherapy before, and currently doing a group "mood management" course (It's basically CBT) so I don't know if they'll want to refer me anywhere else?

As for me I have a therapist and a psych. The psych is mostly concerned with prescribing meds as my therapist can't do that.
And I usually only see her every few month for a few minutes and she asks how my meds affect me.
