I might have hyperthyroidism.
My GP thinks I have an overactive thyroid and has arranged for me to have a blood test.
If I do it explains my symptoms.
I'm scared that it is getting out of hand. I cannot stop trembling and I have bad tics. My heart rate never goes below 115 resting. I keep breaking out into sweating attacks and I am constantly thirsty, but I can't drink much at uni because I keep needing the loo.
Can anyone give me advice? The blood test is not until next week and I'm finding the trembling and tics embarrassing.

PM me if you want a PDF copy of the ICD-10 or the Mental Health Act 1983/2007. I ALSO HAVE THE DSM-V BOOK and am a pharmacology student.
I have a visual impairment / neurological problems so I need people to type in clear text and no funny fonts. Also excuse any typos, my vision blocks things out.
I have autism and have problems communicating, PMs included.
Just becasue I type well doesn't mean I speak well. I am only part time verbal.

NHS website is usually very good for advice. I'd also recommend you make a follow up appointment with your GP who can advise you regarding your current symptoms in the interim.
Good luck, I hope you're okay.

Thanks.
I spent an hour reading up about hyperthyroidism in my Clinical Medicine and other textbooks. I tried googling it but I got loads of stupid layman's terms websites which I cannot stand.
I might look for some research papers too just out of interest.
Lol one website made me want to tear my hair out because it was described in such basic terms. "The thyroid secretes chemicals that make the body's functions speed up" LOL that is awful.
Anyway. I'm ok now as I've done my research.
Blood test next week and if it is hyperthyroidism I will make a follow-up appointment, thanks.
I know what all the standard treatments are so I'll just see which one, if it is hyperthyroidism, my GP might choose.

I'm glad doing research helped. It can definitely be helpful to try and read around what it is and what is going on. Books and research papers are probably a lot more useful and accurate than a general Google search, so I am glad you found those helpful.
I don't really have much advice regarding hyperthyroidism, apart from talking it through with your GP. But I hope the blood test results help and your GP is helpful.
Let us know how it goes.

Have you ever looked fear in the face and said "I just don't care"?

If you're ever searching the internet and want more legitimate and scientific sources, go through google scholar. It'll bring up actual research articles. Anyway hope it goes well!

Blood test came back normal :) I am euthyroid.
It turned out that my symptoms are due to tardive akathisia, which makes sense to me as lowering my Amisulpride (agreed with my psychiatrist) has reduced my symptoms a bit.
