Is this weird?

Okay, so my boyfriend is going to America for two and half weeks in the summer with his best friend. His best friend is a girl.

I have absolutely no problem with this, in fact it didn't even cross my mind to be annoyed or upset.

But my mum went mental when I told her. She thinks it's disgusting, disrespectful to me, that he'll sleep with her and he shouldn't even consider going while he's going out with me. She's even had a go at my boyfriend, accusing him of not caring about me and not being in a proper relationship with me.

No matter how much I try to talk her round, she won't accept that it's just not a big deal. He's been friends with this girl for over ten years. She just won't stop going on about it at any opportunity she gets and it's getting me down.

Is she right? Am I too liberal? Should I be worried? I can't help but trust my boyfriend 100%. I don't know what I can do to stop her from going on and on about it. She makes it really uncomfortable when he comes over to the house.

What does anyone think?

If you trust him that much, then that's great! Why should you be worried? If he's been friends with her for ten years and there's been nothing but friendship between them, why would he suddenly do something now whilst he has a girlfriend?

Personally I think it's your decision. If you trust him you trust him. You know him. If your mother doesn't trust him that's her problem, but you might want to just tell her that it's your choice, etcetc.

Ah, even if he fancies her, it is highly unlikely she will reciprocate. Women tend to designate a guy a friend or otherwise and stick to that quickly after first meeting, while guys might fancy a girl for years while having her as a friend. After such long term friendship it is probably a sibling sentiment they share between each other most likely.

Thanks! Yeah they both asked me to go but I'm not interested in going to America, plus I can't afford it.

Sadly, I put forward my mum should just pay for me to go, but she didn't agree!

if you trust him totally then I don't think its a problem. I have plenty of guy friends who are like brothers to me, and nothing would ever happen between me and them, because it would be weird.

I'm sure your boyfriend feels the same about this girl.
