Safe - Broken toe or broken foot, should i go to the hospital?

Last night I slipped down some stairs and caught my foot in the banister, I thought at the time I'd broken my toe (because I've done that before). But this is way more painful than last time and i cant put weight on that foot, also today the bruising came out, last time my toe was swollen and purple but this time the bruising all around my toes.

I just wanted to know if its worth going to the hospital as I dont want to spend hours there with my 11 month old to be told to put ice on it...

If the picture isn't allowed please remove it.

Hard to tell just from the bruising but its probably worth getting an x ray if you say you can't put weight on it.

If you cant put weight on it, you need to go to the hospital for x-rays, hopefully it is just bruising.

Could you go to the GP first? It might save the waiting, if the GP says it needs an x-ray hopefully they can refer you for the x-ray only [saving the waiting/assessment in A and E] and if the GP says its okay, you can go straight home.

I understand if you have an 11 month old to look after, but you do need to see someone to check it.

I agree with above. Make an appointment with your GP. It doesn't sound good if you can't put any weight on it. Usually if the GP refers you for an xray or whatever, it's a lot quicker than waiting in A&E.

But if i still believe you love me, maybe i'll survive.
So i tell myself you're coming home, like you've done a million times.
& if it's alright, i'll still be loving you.
'cause i can't break it to my heart.

Xray will confirm if it's broken or not. As above, check out with ur GP first, if u can get an appt, if not a&e, whatever is quicker for u.

For the mean time apply the RICE formula - Rest, Ice Compression and Elevation. So, place some ice in a towel and apply for like 10 - 15mins and 10mins off or so, it should help with the swelling. If possible place a bandage around your ankle/foot and elevate when asleep or when u ain't using your foot.

How's the pain so far? Is it bearable or very bad?

I took your guys advise and went to my GP who got my xrays, thankfully not broken, but I`m supposed to keep weight off it, he said crutches or cane and as I have my baby to look after I picked cane. He offered painkillers but I said no as I`ve had problems with addiction, so I`ll just use advil when the pains bad.
