Extreme tired and lethargic
Hey everyone,
For the last few months I have been getting extremely tired and lethargic. It has got to the point where I am finding it extremely hard to walk up a flight of stairs without getting breathless - I am not overweight or underweight.
For the last two weeks I have been on a summer camp and where we have been staying have stairs and lifts. I have been so out of breath just climbing up stairs that I have had to use the lifts even though no one else is allowed to use the lifts.

Hi Meera, what has your diet been like for the past few weeks? Have you been more active whilst at this summer camp? How are you sleeping?

I sleep good. My summer camp I've tried to be as active but wasn't able to get much luck. My diet has been fruits and vegetables and protein and carbohydrates.
On three of the days I have come home at about ten o clock in the morning and just slept through the whole day and night and woken up at 12pm the next day.
On other days I go to sleep at 9pm and wake up at 8;30am.

It sounds like you are getting a balanced diet, which is good.
Your sleep pattern could be part of the reason you are feeling so tired, as it is not consistent. Do you think you could try and go to sleep at the same time each night and wake up at the same time every morning? The recommended amount of sleep is about 9 hours but that can change for each individual person.
If you still feel really tired after correcting your sleep pattern for a week or so, it might be worth speaking to a doctor as there could be a physical cause for the tiredness, for example an iron deficiency.

Are you still restricting though? Even if your diet covers al food groups, if your intake is too low it will make any sort of activity harder. Just thought I'd ask as I know you have restricted at times. (Unless I am confusing you with someone and in that case I am sorry. :P )

There's a good chance that restriction makes you feel so weak. It can be fixed by eating more, which is easier said than done. This will sound pretty blunt, but I feel I have to say it anyway: if you keep restricting then you will have to exept the negative effects that come with that. Being weak and tired is one of them and that won't go away unless you increase your intake.

To me the first thought is also anemia. Have you thought of going to your doctors and requesting a blood test?

I will try and get an appointment for next week to see my GP. The thing is I'm worried that my GP will say to have iron tablets because the last time I took iron tablets I overdosed on them.

Finding it extremely tiring and breathless to walk up the stairs. In college I have to walk up many stairs which makes me extremely breathless so I have to keep stopping every two minutes to get my breath back. Also I slept all day on Monday because I was just extremely tired and breathless.
Also I keep having sharp chest pains on the left side. Do you think any of this is related to me OD so many times this year?

It might be.
What did A&E say when you went there a while ago?
I think your best shot is to see your GP. Get your bloods done and also talk to them about your diet, they might be able to advise you on eating the right foods to feel better.
