I would say that a 'breakdown' is when you cannont funtion day to day. Obvioulsy major depression is involved. But you have no mental clariy, very hopeless and lost. A loss of sanity.

Whe I get to the point of wanting to tell some one. As weird as that shounds. Because that's when I'd do like hundreds of cuts a day.
