This section is an all inclusive guide to getting help for mental health difficulties from going to the Dr. through to what happens in an inpatient admission. Getting help is one of the hardest but hopefully one of the most rewarding things that you will have to do. This section is concerned primarily with getting help while the other sections in the advice area contain articles specific to the disorder.
Going to the Doctors
The first step in seeking help from external sources is going to see a doctor. This section looks specifically at what will happen if you go to the Dr. and who you might get referred on to.
Therapies
Therapy is an important part of the recovery process for a large number of people. This section looks at individual therapies and what they do. Everybody is different and whilst therapy may work miracles for one person it may not be effective for another individual. Medication
Medication is often used with more severe mental illness, this section gives a brief introduction to medication but much more comprehensive information can be found in the First Aid Section. Community Help
Treatment in the community is becoming the preferrered route of treatment in many countries. This sections covers the various options and people that you may be referred to and what you can expect from them. Psychiatric Hospital
This section covers what to expect and what you may encounter during an inpatient stay at a psychiatric hospital. Every country and every hospital is different and so we have tried to cover as many different experiences as possible but if you would like to write an article or you think there is an article on something not covered here please let us know and we will add it. Sectioning
When people need to be hospitilised and are unwilling to go they may be sectioned. This section covers the basic mental health act and a brief guide to it. (online soon!)
