[I'm unsure whether this is triggering or not so thought I'd best put that it is!]
My doctor referred me to a counsellor and my appointment is on the 8th June (so about a week away). I'm worried as I don't really know what to expect or what I should tell her straight off. I had counselling about 5 years ago when I was at school but it wasn't very good and I was a bit of a moody teenager and wasn't interested in being there so it didn't go very well.
I just wondered if anyone out there knows what sort of questions she'll ask me. There are a few things I'm not really up for telling her as I'm not very proud of them and am a bit embarassed... but these are things that I think effect how I feel and act the most. Should I hide them or bite the bullet and speak up about them? I hate the thought of people judging me (I'm a bit of a coward!) so am really nervous about talking to her about some stuff. Also, is it OK for me to discuss sexual problems I feel I might have?
I'm a recovered self-harmer but still resort to little things like burning myself with lighters or pinching myself hard when I'm stressed out. Is it worth mentioning that, do you think? It's not exactly life-threatening so I dunno if it matters much.
I read the 'What to expect from counselling article' on RYL and it is helpful but was just wondering if anyone can tell me any more?
Thanks loads in advance
