Sexual Health - Smear Test - dates

Ive just booked my first smear test and they said to book between days 13-17 of your cycle, and most websites say 2 weeks into your cycle. I've just realised ive booked it for day 18, which is 2 weeks and 3 days since the start of my last period - is this going to be a be problem? I don't really want to cancel as i've had to swap a shift at work to book this appointment already!

Those are just days as a guide and everyone is different. In a lot of cases 18days should be fine. What they are looking for is for you to be approximately in the centre of your cycle so if your cycles are 28days or longer it should make no difference. If less than this then I would give the place a ring just to make sure especially if they are under around 24 days because leading up to your period things do change and become more inflamed which will how easy it is to exam the cells they collect.

If you're unsure I would just ring the place up to check.

Go ahead it should be ok. At worst the sample is not clear because of small traces of blood - and then they call you for a re-test. - Fairly unlikely though.
