Safe - sore throat and losing my voice

I wasn't sure whether to label this as a medication question.

Basically, I've had a sore throat since Monday afternoon, and this morning it appears that I am losing my voice.

I can't take over the counter cold remedies because of my anti-depressant [mirtazapine].

I could take ibuprofen, but my period is due next week, and I need ibuprofen then, so don't want to take some this week also.

I see my GP on Friday anyway [regular check in re depression] but I'd appreciate some suggestions of what might help, as I could do with some relief [and voice!] before then.

Ideas?

Try not to talk at all, tea with honey, steam, no dairy products.

Thats all I can think of right now. If you get a high temperature, or get severe pain in your throat, or it feels like you are having a hard time breathing call your GP and see if you can get your appointment moved up. If you can't they can advise you of what to do.
