Triggering (Sexual Abuse) - What do I do?

Okay so I've always been aware of this forum but I've never really posted on it because I still get affected a lot by talk of this. I guess I just want to see if I'm ready yet.

Well anyway, yesterday on the way home from town on my own I was approached by a gang. Something nearly happened to me that happened when I was younger. Of course this really upset me because of my past experiences and what could have happened.

Anyway, I told a friend about the gang who followed me and tried to do that thing to me and were throwing suff and shouting at me and she wetn a bit mad. She was annoyed because I wouldn't report them, even though they didn't actually seriousl hurt me, just almost did it and threw somthing at me. She was saying how it could happen to a little girl and how innocence could be ripped away rom her and it would be my fault.

I feel ****ing awful. She made me sound like I was the one who would do this to some girl... yet I have also been that girl at one point.

I'm sorry... I'm just confused.

your friend really shhouldn't have done that... wheither or not you report people is up to you and no one should try to emotionally manipulate you into it.
if they were to hurt anyone it would be their fault, them who did it, not yours.

however, it can be very hard for some people to understand why people don't report things... I never reported what happened to me, and many other didn't report what happened to them either. this is something that you are in control of and you decide

Well this friend doesn't know of my past experience so I guess she was unaware of how I would react.

I can't stand the fact it almost happened again.

im really sorry it happened in the first place :(
i hope you understand that none of it is your fault, no matter what your friend said, she should be more supportive of you

Yeaah. It feels weird to write about it on here though ><. I keep getting worried someone'll find it who don't know I have a RYL account or something!

I just don't see the point in reporting what happened on Sunday because I don't remember what they looked like anyway.

I know what it feels like to have someone trying to manipulate you into reporting. I also know exactly what it feels like to say that they havent actually done anything, they just nearly did or could have. Im not going to go into specifics but I know how guilty you may feel, but it isnt your fault. This feels weird to say but only report them if you feel happy reporting them.

And maybe open up to someone you trust about what happened when you were younger? This could be a big relief (:

Yeah. To be honest though I can hardly remember anything about what they looked like and the police wouldn't be able to do anything about it.

I'm thinking of doing that when I'm older and I don't have to tell my parents and stuff.
