There are more people out there than you think who self injure in their 40s. You're not pathetic at all and it isn't hopeless. Please be kind to yourself, you didn't ask to feel the way you do but there is always hope. Don't be afraid to seek help when you're ready......you deserve a life free of SI just as much as anyone else.

There is nothing to be ashamed of, I think you would find alot of others who are they same age or older going through similar. Recovery is always possible and will happen when you are ready. Self-harm does not discriminate against age.

Like the other wonderful members have said, there is nothing to be ashamed of.
Next time you feel like cutting, maybe come on here and post about it. It might help you fight the urge. Or even go into Chat xxx
