I'm impatient and my dr has just prescribed me Haloperidol 5mg TWICE daily (so 10mg total). Is that a low, medium or high dose? What dose do you take if you do take Haloperidol?
PM me if you want a PDF copy of the ICD-10or the Mental Health Act 1983/2007. I ALSO HAVE THE DSM-V BOOK and am a pharmacology student.
I have a visual impairment / neurological problems so I need people to type in clear text and no funny fonts. Also excuse any typos, my vision blocks things out.
I have autism and have problems communicating, PMs included.
Just becasue I type well doesn't mean I speak well. I am only part time verbal.
Thanks. I'll ask a nurse. I'm getting muscular stiffness, lethargy, tiredness and spasms in my legs if I sit down for more than a short while. But hey the Voices have calmed down and I went on the Underground without freaking out.

Hey, thats about what I was taking, but that was with 20mg of olanzapine as well so I think its about medium. But if you get the information leaflet which comes with the meds it should tell you what the average and maximum dose is. They're meant to give you that if you ask for it. :)
Can I ask why you want to know? Medication doses aren't a competition for who is on the highest dose and therefore the worst off. Dose strength depends on a lot more things such as weight, height, diet, other medication, other physical issues such as digestive problems etc.
It is not a competition. I just wanted to know if I have leeway to go up on the dosage because the nurses don't think my meds are doing enough for me.
Thanks for the replies.
Ranger Fairy, that must have knocked you out stone cold...
(FYI I'm quite light)

Like Daffodill said, It would be better to ask the nurses, as it is different for everyone, and it's usually done at the doctor's descretion. I know people on above the recommended dose for some drugs but the doctor has decided it. It's never a good idea to ask people on the internet really, you'll get better advice from the nurses.
I'm not sure hun, but i agree you should ask the nurses. I can understand why you'd like to know what sort of dosage you are on though. I, for example, like to know that i'm not being put on a higher dose than is necessary, because sometimes you get no more benefit, but a heap more side effects... also it's good to know whether you've got any room for increase should it be necessary. Sorry if that's not how your thinking, just wanted to offer a 'maybe' explanation, after it was suggested it was 'competition'....
