Triggering (SI) - New here and last night.

Hello everyone. I am very happy to see that there is a group for Vets. It will be nice to connect with others that are older. I am 28 years old and have been cutting for 13 years. It has been a few months since I last cut (before last night) For about a month now I have been incredibly anxious. I have been trying not to cut but instead I started drinking more, smoking pot more often, overeating and stopping exercise. I have tried to do my usual calmers: meditation, mantras, deep breathing, taking my PRN anxiety pills. Nothing worked. Last night I knew that I had to cut because nothing else was working. Honestly, I am really glad that I did. I feel so much better. I am not going to put myself down for it either. It was what I need to do, if I hadn't things really would have become worse.

I hope that I can find some friends on here. Please request my friendship if you wish.

Jessica

Welcome to vets. I'm sorry that you felt the need to cut, but it's good that it helped to calm you down. Why do you think the other things weren't helpful. Maybe it would be good if you could talk to your doctor about how you are feeling. I hope that you can get back on your recovery journey. Please get in touch if you want to talk. Take care.

I put it down on paper and then the ghost does not ache so much.

Don't try to calm the storm, calm yourself, the storm will pass.

You didn't come this far just to come this far.

Hi Jessica

Welcome to the pensioners! I hope you find support here.

Has anything happened recently to make you feel more anxious?

Take care

Hi Jessica, welcome to RYL

Sometimes we have to do whatever we can in order to survive. When you survive though, you can go on to fight the battle again.

My husband is my best friend.

In forgiving others, we are not exonerating them. They may not deserve exoneration. Rather, in forgiving others we are giving up our anger over the fact that what happened is not what "should" have happened or that our life is not the way it "should" have been.

Thank you for the welcome everyone. To answer One Step Closer's question, I believe that the things I tried did not work because my anxiety was on overload. I had hypothyroidism and was on medicine for it. I was talking to my psych about how I was feeling and she thought maybe my thyroid went the other way. Well, I did get it checked and yes, I now have hyperthyroidism. Symtoms include overeating and anxiety.I am on new meds now. It has not quite kicked in yet. So there we go.
And in addition to the thyroid, I have also started dating someone (I have never been in a relationship before) and I am totally broke. Things will get better, they always do.
