"Who quoted me"

I use another forum in which there is an application at the side of the screen that enables you to see who has recently quoted you in a post.

It's quite useful, as often I will find that I have completely forgotten about posts and somebody may reply with a question that I don't see.

Would it be possible to implement something like this with the current forum build?

what you could do is just go to your profile & go to "recent posts" and then click on which you think people would reply to/quote.
idk i guess its a bit difficult if you post loads but generally i have a good idea if i think somebody is gunna quote me.

Also, if you really wanted to, you could run a search for your username, which would bring up most quotes and any entries directed at you

Hm, it's quite useful in huge forums, but for somewhere as small as RYL (compared to the site I use with this function) I don't really think it's all that necessary.

It can be quite handy if you post a fair bit all over the shop, in a very big place with a heck of a lot of traffic.
However, RYL's reasonably tight-knit and easy to keep tabs on, especially if you're a frequent visitor, so I'm unsure of the real need for the feature.

Plus, like someone's said, I would have no idea if it's compatible with the current forum "type" and also who it would have to be installed by.

Ravelry's got something like that. You get a message in your inbox there if someone mentions your name and links to you. I don't know what happens if you get quoted there. I've never been quoted there.
