And for those of you that have either been through end-of-the-year grades, or are currently dealing with them, you can sympathize with me on this, maybe.
At the moment, I'm in my final year of required schooling. I think it's known as sixth form (I think, I could be wrong, as I was definitely previously wrong calling it college before) for you Brits, and High School for those of us that live in the US. And I for one have been working very hard to get the grades that I have. Now, I'm nowhere near a straight A student, but I do my work, and I get the grades that I work for. But see, here's my point. Work. One has to do it to get the grades.
In my high school, we have these things called 5-week interim reports. They're these grade updates that get sent to one’s house and tell a person how they’re doing in the class. If a person is doing well, like me, then it shouldn't be a problem. If someone isn’t, well, basically they're screwed. Their parents see it, everyone gets angry, and it's all a bunch of crying and tears, possibly grounding, and privileges being taken away.
But that's my point. If they hadn't slacked off, and f*cked around, or skipped school, or put off the work, and missed the deadlines, they wouldn't be in this situation. I don't want to hear any lame excuses of "oh I was sick" or "I was on vacation". Here's a clue for them. GET THE WORK DONE. If they’re sick, they should have someone bring it home for them, I'm sure there's at least one person willing to do so, or have their parents go pick it up. If they go on vacation, I'm pretty sure they know that they’re going, so why not ask their teachers for what they’re going to be missing? Teachers know what they'll be doing, it shouldn't be hard to get the sheets and notes.
It's not anyone elses' fault but their own that they didn't do the work. They’re not in kindergarten anymore. It’s called taking responsibility for their own selves. Yes, I'm speaking plainly, and no this isn't directed at anyone, but I'm really sick of hearing people gripe and moan about how their teachers are against them, and how the work is too hard. It's called sucking it up, and getting it done. It's not like a teacher has anything against them. It's just that they didn't do the work required to pass the class.
And yes, this may seem a bit harsh, but I don't think this isn't common knowledge. If you do the work, and you make up what you missed, you’ll get the grades, it’s as easy as that.
[/end rant]
EDIT; I am not saying anything about the people that have trouble with their grades. This rant has nothing to do with those people. I don't mean to offend anyone who actually tries to get good grades, and their circumstances prevent said grades. I'm talking of the people that don't, and expect to get good grades.

Reason: Edited to clarify.
It's not directed at anyone here, as you're right, no one has bitched about their grades here, as far as I know. This was just a "people who bitch about grades in general" thing.
I haven't seen anybody moaning and fair enough its true for alot of the people who do badly but what about those people who try damn hard but still don't do well because of other things, or those people who can't try hard because of things.. Everyone is different and you can't judge all the people who get low grades the same.
You're entirely bonkers. But I'll tell you a secret. All the best people are.
That's a completely different story. I didn't say anything about the people that have trouble with their grades. It has nothing to do with them. Understandably, I don't mean to offend anyone who actually tries. I'm talking of the people that don't, and expect to get good grades.
Personally, I see your point. I'm one that most grades have come to me easily, but I know far too many people who complain about their low grades but then walk out of each class and say "I don't like that teacher, I can't be bothered" and then they wonder why they don't get their Bs or As at the end.
I had this teacher who I handed an essay into and the he lost the essay and acted like it was my fault he had lost it and then expected me to write it again. The essay was hand written as well, so frustrating.
If I lay here
If I just lay here
Would you lie with me
And just forget the world?
Just because you can't see the stars doesn't mean they aren't there
And what's all this 'that doesn't apply to me/i have a situation that goes against this therefore this whole post is nulled and void' crap? If it doesn't apply to you, it probably isn't aimed at you (as a general rant).
If you skip school and doss about, don't complain about your crap grades.
Simple as.
It's not directed at anyone here, as you're right, no one has bitched about their grades here, as far as I know. This was just a "people who bitch about grades in general" thing.
If its not for/to/aimed at anyone on RYL, im wondering why you posted in general chat rather than making it an actual rant.
and i wonder why you directed your first post to 'you' rather than.. 'doesnt it annoy you when others'
And what's all this 'that doesn't apply to me/i have a situation that goes against this therefore this whole post is nulled and void' crap? If it doesn't apply to you, it probably isn't aimed at you (as a general rant).
It was quite clearly aimed at everyone. She made generalisations that weren't true. We gave examples that showed they weren't true. I think that's called "disproof by counterexample"
Please don't say my posts are crap. I find it pretty offensive.
There are times to stay put, and what you want will come to you.
But there are times to go out into the world and find such a thing for yourself.
I aint no abacus but you can count on me.
Okay, before this gets too insane, and it starts a flame war, I would like to clarify a few things.
A) There are always exceptions to every point of view. In Rawrk, Asi, and Snowflake's case, then of course I would not be referring to you, as all of you seemed to exhibit some sort of effort to get a grade. This was specifically aimed at people that don't work for their grades, or who have teachers willing to give them work and they don't take it, and I should have clarified that in my first post. I apologize for making you feel that way.
B) When I wrote this I was quite angry at a person who had come in and looked at their grades for the class, and then started blaming everyone else for their bad grade, when in fact I'd been sitting next to them the entire year, and they hadn't done a thing, and quite often skipped out on school, or had their mother call them out. I didn't mean for it to be aimed at anyone in particular, although it was based on one person's inability and lack of maturity to take responsibility for their poor grade.
C) Lastly, I agree maybe general chat was not the best place to post this, and if the moderators agree with that, then yes, maybe it should be moved. But at the moment it is not, and it is open for people to reply, and I thank those that have come in and stated their points.
I hope this helped to clarify some things, and to help you all see that this really wasn't meant to offend or hurt anyone, I am simply frustrated with the people that bitch and moan about poor grades and do nothing to help themselves, when they have nothing stopping them from getting good grades, but themselves.
Also, Squirrelspit, I probably could have taken the time to put it in "they/they're" tense, but I was frustrated, and didn't think of it at the time. I'll get around to changing it in a little while, if that might help.
i had a girl like that that sat next to me in maths years ago.. she was annoying. especially when she used to ask if she could copy my homework cos she hadnt done hers.
Unfortunately for her.. im **** at maths.. so anything she copied was probably wrong anyway!!!
I think it depends on circumstances really. I mean on one hand you could have someone who pisses about and doesnt do anywork, on the other hand you can have someone that wants to wrok and do thier best but cant because of certain reasons, so yeah.
