Ideas for baby gifts? *Updated*

My sister is having a baby boy in a few months (I'm going to be an Aunt! ), I live across the Atlantic from her and am really struggling to think of something to send for when the baby's born. I don't want to be boring and send baby clothes because she has lots of them already. Just wondering if anyone has any unique/special ideas, thankyou :)

Baby Book. It was the best present I ever got when I had my son.
You know those cute little scrapbook type things where you write all of baby's firsts and birth details and so on. You can get some really cute ones and they aren't difficult to package and send over in the mail

How about one of those little kits to do "baby's first hand/foot print"? I still have mine and it's unbelievable that I was that small!

Have you asked her what she needs? I know it's a bit of a giveaway but first time mums tend to get so much and half of it doesn't get used, so you could ask what she would like and what she'd find useful - even if it's just money towards something she may want for him in the future.

You can buy clothes for when he's older (12month + clothes) - i brought my niece a teddy bear which gives the sound out of what the womb would sound like - it soothed her to sleep for months.
Water toys are always a really good gift aswell as babies usually love bath time as they grow up - so maybe some waterproof books, some water toys, etc.

There are so many good ideas here, I don't know that I can suggest much more! I was thinking for the sake of postage, you could get gift cards for a few different stores so that she can have the option of buying things as she needs them, also send something special like the baby books metioned above :) A very special teddy can be quite a good gift, so many people keep soft toys they received as babies, it can be something quite lovely later in life :) Sorry I don't have many good ideas, but big congratulations for your sister and you :D Ooh, another idea, get a giftcard for a photo studio, then they can have a special family photo taken from when he's just a little newborn, perhaps?

A nappy cake makes a really nice present but might be expensive to post. you can google nappy cake for some design ideas an there easy to make.

I went ape-**** for a cardboard box when i was a kid and we got a new tv.

I looked at Nappy cakes, they look so cool and original and I can order online and it'll deliver straight to her :) Thanks for all the great ideas I'm going to pick up a few of the other suggestions for when I visit my nephew for the first time in September. They've decided to call him Jake Riley
